  • Ashfeather sighed as his mate rested her head on his shoulder. At last, things seemed to be going back to how he had always hoped they would be. He gazed at Wintercloud, the love of his life. He knew Fallenleaf would be kitting soon... He wondered how she would feel about it? He sighed softly and washed her ears affectionately, wishing he could express to her how much he valued her. How she was the only one that mattered.

But soon the moment of tranquility was over as his bouncing daughter laid eyes on him. He laughed, a deep, rumbling laugh, his amber eyes glowing like embers.
"Ha! C'mere, ya little squirt!" He growled playfully, darting forward and aiming to wrap a paw around his daughter and ruffle the fur on her head.

  • Wolverinekit watched Ashfeathjer play with his daughter. "What's he doing," the silver bengal whispered to his brother.

"I have no idea," the snow bengal whispered back.

  • Apocryphakit blinked in shock as he stared at the gray tabby warrior and his daughter. This he had never seen before in his life. His father barely even visited him but as a kitten he still didn't mind and was still careless. He raised a brown paw and rubbed it on his nose to make it stop twitching. The scents all around him were still quite new to him since he had a very strong nose. The silver tom was sitting in the shadows just staring at everything. He felt quite lonely but he sometimes didn't mind the quiet.

  • Peregrinekit suddenly screamed in pain. Ashfeather's love for his kits, Wintercloud's feelings, the brothers' curiosity, Chandelierkit's playfulness, it was all too much for him. It was Ashfeather's love that hurt the most. It was a feeling his heart hadn't felt in several moon highs. Sometimes being able to feel others' was a curse.

Owlspirit's ghost watched him. She knew better than to have pity for him. She padded into the camp and pasted by the brothers and Peregrinekit. All of them shivered.

Peregrinekit looked up. "A-Aunt Owlspirit?" he stuttered.

Owlspirit smiled and pasted through Wintercloud and Ashfeather.

Chandelierkit made a fake squeak of surprise as she didn't anticipate her father to be that fast. Soon the chocolate tortie was lost in her fathers fur as she felt paws wrap around her small body. Then suddenly she felt something on her head and soon after fur was over her eyes as Ashfeather rubbed her head. "Hey!" The she-kit protested, but it wasn't serious as it was mixed with a giggle as she tryed to wiggle her way out from her fathers grasp.

  • Peregrinekit yelled again, the runt fell to the ground.

Wolverinekit heard a yell and nudged his brother. They soon came to his aid. "Peregrinekit, are you alright," asked Wolverinekit.

    "I don't know," replied Peregrinekit.

  • Ashfeather laughed, letting her escape from his grasp, and acting annoyed.
"Hey, get back here!" He growled, crouching and swishing his long, bushy tail, his eyes alight with playfulness.

Wildkit wanted to join in the fun, too, but then she saw Peregrinekit falling on the ground again, and her ear twitched. She turned, her fluffy torbie-striped tail twitching in concern.
"Are you alright, Peregrinekit?" She asked. "What happened? Did something hurt you?" the little torbie had a habit of asking many questions at once.

  • Peregrinekit writhed in pain, having no idea what said. It was not his body that hurt, but his heart. He lifted himself up. "Ash-father? You really love her, don't you?" The deaf runt pronounced in his old distorted way. Peregrinekit looked afraid, his back was arched, and his fur was standing up.

  • Peregrinekit looked at his friend. The deaf runt smiled at her.

  • Ashfeather laughed, letting her escape from his grasp, and acting annoyed.

Chandelierkit let out a playful squeal as she got out of her fathers grasp. She bounded away a little distance so she was about a fox-length away as she went into one of her own crouch. "If you can catch me!" The chocolate tortie mewed happily as she turned around and ran toward the direction of the nursery, but sadly her ears were pounding with blood and did not hear her clanmate.

  • Ashfeather looked up at Peregrinekit.
"Of course I do! She's my daughter." The big, fluffy warrior purred, then remembering the kit was deaf, he simply nodded and smiled. Then he called out, "Hey! Get back here, you!" As his daughter ran off. He chased after her playfully, as if he himself were a kit again. He aimed to catch her fluffy tortie tail beneath his padded paw.

  • Chandelierkit let out a small squeal of excitement as she heard paws running toward her. Then suddenly the chocolate tortie veered to the right, her tail almost being caught under her fathers paw. Then she turned around and launched herself at her father, aiming to land on his back if she could.

  • The brothers watched Ashfeather and his daughter play. "What are they doing," Blizzardkit whispered. "I don't know," said Wolverinekit.

Peregrinekit stood up and limped to her.

  • "May I ask, what is Peregrinekit's problem with Cougarstrike," asked Wolverinekit.

"And what is Ashfeather and Chandelierkit doing?" asked Blizzardkit.

  • Milkkit answered Wolverinekit first. "I don't know... Ask him," She wasn't too sure what he was talking about but just shrugged and answered the next question. "Playing I guess."
