Eastpaw strolled away from Windclan's leaders den. She could no longer think, 'my leader's den'. He had decided she couldnt stay. And that felt like a claw to the heart. Her life was so horrible! Crying she stumbled and fell over. She was a broken cat once more.

"Momma!" Onyxkit saw his mother and screeched. The little fawn ticked tabby rushed towards Eastpaw, and nuzzled his face against her shoulder. "Momma sad?"
-
"Oh gee, w--what's wrong?"
A tom padded over to the apprentice and her kit, cocking his head to the side in concern, his eyes green pools of curiosity. Like most WindClan cats, his body was lean and slim, with a clean, recently groomed light brown tabby pelt covering it.
Shortstep leaned back to sit down as he awaited Eastpaw's reply. Just returning from a hunt, his catch, a rabbit, lay by his paws but he had forgotten about it when he noticed the crying apprentice and her kit, who was nuzzled up against her.
-
"Eastpaw has to go back to Thunderclan," said Orchidblood, and her hurt was plain to hear. She'd been hoping and hoping that she could stay, but the leader's word was final.
-
"M-mo-momma has to leave us?" Onyxkit squeaked in horror, turning his large eyes onto his 'aunt'. He didn't want his mother to go away!
-
"Course not, Your coming with me Onyxkit. You and all the rest of my kits.. Where are they?" She looked around, "Also what did you say Orchidblood? Ripplestep was alowed to stay? but I wasnt?"
-
"Yeah...My step-grandfather who kept on walking out on my grandma, he was from Thunderclan," said Orchidblood. "He's allowed to stay and you aren't."
-
"What?!!" Eastpaw practically roared, "Well thats preposterous! Why wasnt I allowed to stay if he was? We are both Thunderclan!"
-
Orchidblood shook her head in an unknowing way, quiet resignation. She wished she hadn't brought it up, but the more she thought about it the more unfair it obviously was.
-
"He just doesnt want me to live here.." Eastpaw murmured sadly. Sniffling, she looked into Orchidblood's eyes. "I dont want to leave.. I dont want to leave you Orchidblood.."
-
Orchidblood looked into Eastpaw's eyes and knew they had grown too close for Eastpaw's own good. "I wish I had a better answer."
-
"Im going to miss you so much Orchidblood.." Eastpaw closed her eyes and bottled up her pain.
-
"I'll visit you." It was a hollow promise and Orchidblood knew that Eastpaw knew. Sure, she could visit her. At the borders, at Gatherings. eastpaw and her kits could never be a part of her family like they were right now, and had been for some time now.
-
"Everyday?" Eastpaw asked, then chuckled. "No everyday isnt realistic.. I look forward to your visits though. I couldnt stand it if we didnt keep in contact."
-
"Me either," said Orchidblood. "And who knows, maybe he'll change his mind eventually." She was seriously considering bringing up the Ripplestep thing, but that might only get Ripplestep kicked out, not Eastpaw welcomed in.
-
Eastpaw sat down and curled her tail around her paws. "He said, 'go back when you and your kits are able.' So I guess we have to leave now? Me and my kits are more than able..." Not that she was in any hurry to leave. She wondered if she stayed would he even notice?
-
"You should go back before they get even more used to being here," said Orchidblood. "I wasn't there a year and a half ago when this clan stayed over at yours for the whole Leafbare and part of Newleaf, but I know from what people say that a lot of the kits born early in Leafbare that year had a rough time adjusting when we moved back here. I feel bad for them...they're growing up thinking this is home..."
-
"This IS home!" Eastpaw corrected. She sighed, "I gotta gather them all up then and leave.." She closed her eyes, "I really dont want to though.."
Echokit ran up, "Mommy! Orchidblood!" She slowed down when she saw her mom crying. "Wh-whats goin on??"
-
Orchidblood was feeling herself beginning to cry too. "I wish it didn't have to be this way..."
-
Echokit blinked in confusiong, "Momma?! Auntie?? Whats going on?!" The young she-cat asked. She didnt want to cry!
