    Rainstorm pawed through his herbs.


    Mudfur groomed Waterfall's pelt outside the warriors' den.

    Windsong stepped out of the warrior's den, blinking sleep from her eyes. She smiled at Waterfall and Mudfur and stretched. She looked around, and, seeing no trouble, headed to the fresh-kill pile and picked out a mouse. Instead of eating it, she thought better, and took it to Rainstorm.


    Silverstar sidled out of her den and squinted at the sky to find the position of the sun. It's still early. she thought, and walked to Rainstorm's den. She nodded at the two warriors outside the warriors' den.

    Rainstorm looked up. "Silverstar." He dipped his head, then grinned widely at Windsong. "Thank you." He meowed gratefully.

    Windsong nodded and returned to the fresh-kill pile to grab her own food.


    Silverstar dipped her head. "Rainstorm." She smiled at Windsong as she left, then returned her gaze to the medicine cat. "I think I may have broken my paw," Silverstar sighed. "I... fell off of a tree yesterday." She smiled, embarrassed.

    Rainstorm stared at Silverstar for a full 10 seconds before cracking up. "You-fell-off-a-tree?" He laughed, shoulders shaking. He recovered himself. "Oh my StarClan that's funny." He chuckled. "Sorry." He added.

    Silverstar tried to look angry, but burst into laughter. "I feel so stupid!" She cried, laughing. She realized she was acting like an apprentice, but she didn't really care. "I know, I know. I didn't see that the branch ended there-" She explained, looking at the ground ahead of her like it was a tree branch. She scooted her paws close together and pretended to stalk a bird. "-so I followed the bird, right off the edge." She leapt, paws forward, and then scrambled to her feet again and glanced at her medicine cat, waiting for his reaction. Then she added, "And that's it, right there." She pointed her tail outside the den at Windsong, who was happily eating a plump, colorful bird.

    "Well, I think it could happen to any cat. And, good catch." Rainstorm consoled. "Anyway, I think this is just dislocated."

    Creamfur woke up. Lonely as usual. He needed a mate and kit in his life.
