  • Tears welled in Icepaw's eyes as her clan mates Crystalfur,Brownfur and Arrowpaw's bodies were hauled into the clearing covered in dirt and blood. She padded over to them and sat prepared to sit there for a whole moon to mourn."Why,why my favourite friends" she whispered into Arrowpaw's fur.More and more cats began to fill the clearing and sitting down next to Icepaw.

  • The deputy's gaze flicked out into the center of camp from where he sat in the warriors' den, coming to rest on three bodies and mourning cats. He got up and darted out, eyes narrowed.
"What's happened?" he demanded sharply, tail puffing up defensively.

  • "Apparently badgers got them,a whole lot of them" Icepaw sobbed,"and they were all my best friends" she whispered so that the the deputy couldn't hear.

  • Thanks to his super senses, the tom's ears picked up the last part of the apprentice's speech as well.
"I'm sorry," he murmured, resting his puffy tail on her back in what he hoped was a comforting gesture. "You can sit vigil with them on the outskirt of camp tonight, if you like, as a final goodbye."

  • Icepaw smiled at how friendly the tom was being and nodded "yes I think I will have a last goodbye" she said quiet fully.

  • "Its alright,I'm sure they're happy now,in star clan?!" she said quickly. Her sapphire blue eyes flickering amongst the limp bodies.

  • She nodded "yes that seems like a smarter idea" she giggled a little but then faced the bodies again and a grim expression appeared on her face again but she continued to the fresh kill pile, took a plump vole and carried on to the apprentice den.
