• Dawnpaw skidded into the Medicine Cat's den, the wounds on her side bleeding heavily. Her breath came in short panting spurts and her movements were weak and clumsy. "Ch..imera...paw." she called out between breathes, looking over her shoulder for Phantompaw, who should be right behind her. He had some pretty nasty wounds too. Damn badger.

 • Chimerapaw had been taking a quick snooze, but the tom was awakened by the calling of his names. Instantly, he was attentive, and when he saw the wounds, the tom gasped, "What happened?"

 • "Badger." Dawnpaw gasped, looking over her shoulder for Phantompaw once more and swaying as she did so. She sat, trying to stedy herself, but even when she sat she swayed. She hoped Phantompaw was ok...she really needed him to be ok.

 • Chimerapaw was on his feet instantly. The tom padded over to his herb stores, and plucked out a couple of herbs, ready to attend. "Dawnpaw," he mewed. "You need something on those cuts, too."

 • He arrived late. It seemed like something Phantompaw would do. He gaped at Dawnpaw's side, which was basically just a crimson tangle of fur. His own wasn't so bad; there was only a scrape on his hide, and it'd already scabbed over from the wind whilst he'd been running here.'Will she... be alright?', he meowed worriedly, words separated roughly by gasps as he tried to regain his breathe.

 • "If she listens to me," Chimerapaw answered. He took out some marigold and garlic, and began chewing them to a pulp. While doing that, the red tabby brought some cobwebs and plastered them onto the apprentice, hoping to staunch the bleeding.

 • Dawnpaw looked at Phantompaw with an unattentive but clearly relieved look. She leaned heavily into him as Chimarapaw worked on her side, purring weakly.

 • At last the pultice was minced. Chimerapaw pressed and rolled it with his paw and applied it to the cuts. "You should be fine now with rest. Now time for your treatment," he grinned, turning to Phantompaw.

 • Dawnpaw staggered over to a moss nest and collapsed into it, closing her eyes before opening them again to watch Phantompaw.

 • "I don't need treatment, it's just a scratch...", he protested, but only in words. His body wasn't willing, whereas he knew that the medicine cat would force treatment on him. With a heavy sigh, Phantompaw let his gaze wander to Dawnpaw, and he smiled at her, eyes weary. Being almost killed by a badger was an experience worth being weary for.

 • Chimerapaw pursed his lips. "Cummon," he urged. "If that wound gets infected, it'll delay your warrior's ceremony for a couple of months."

 • Dawnpaw managed a weak smile back, her eyes fluttering closed dispite the protest her mind was giving. She still listened, though keeping her eyes open took too much energy. Her ears perked when Chimerapaw said something about warrior cermonies. "Chimerapaw...what about me? Will I be able to have my ceremony?" she asked weakly.

 • "Okay, fine, whatever. Do what you will.", he sniffed, attempting to relax his fur a bit. He had a feeling there was some pain involved in this healing stuff. They started sticking a bunch of crap in your wound and... he shuddered. It looked awful. "But be gentle.", he fit in, a bit quietly. Apparently, that was shameful towards his levels of tomliness, but he could care less about that. He would avoid pain at almost all costs.

 • "Of course I will," the red tabby assured him. Chimerapaw then mewed, "I always try to lessen the pain in my patients. If you need some pain killers, I have willow bark."

 • "Er, sure... why not.", he said, offering a small, and maybe a bit reluctant, shrug. Willow bark? Bark? That was disgusting. Did he have to eat it? What happened to poppy seeds? Or was that something else... "Though if I have to eat this 'willow bark', I'd rather do without."

 • "It doesn't taste too bad," Chimerapaw replied, bringing a chunk of it out. "It kills the pain, but doesn't make you sleepy, like poppy seeds do, Phantompaw."

 • "Er... o-okay.", he meowed, eying the bit of willow suspiciously. He reached down and nibbled on one end, chewed for a while, and then spat it out. "Do I have to swallow it?", he grumbled, tongue tingling with the stuff's bitter taste.
