  • [align=center][font=georgia]Ting chewed up the marigolds and spat them out on Meemow's wound. Then she covered them with cobwebs. Quicky looking over the wound, she nodded at Elvina and then ran out to see where Spartley was.

  • Elvina's head snapped up as soon as she heard that word . . . fox. "Ting," she yelled frantically, "Come stay with Meemow." She looked around to make sure all the disabled cats were there before taking off to the nursery.

Spartley mewed frantically as he heard the cats around his break into a panic. He began wailing for his mother, but at this point he didn't even care who came as long as they comforted him.

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black]In all the frantic running of cats, Yanjun awoke, growling. He hurried over to Ting, who was about to run back into the disabled hut to stay with Meemow. "Find the kit!" Yanjun hissed at her. "Forget Meemow, save him first!" Ting obeyed and ran off in search of Spartley.

  • Larkwing sniffed. Yep, fox! She ran to the nursery, only tripping twice, and hoisted Cry and Bird onto her back.

  • Larkwing took her adopted kits to the secret corner tunnel she had dug in the nursery. It came out at the edge of the territory, the middle, and just outside of camp, depending on which exit you took. She poked her head out of the nursery and said, "Hey guys, I've got and escape route for us all!"

  • Ting darted to Enredo, who was guarding the nursery. "Enredo! Is there a kit named Spartley in the nursery?" she asked frantically.

  • Elvina sprinted up to the door of the nursery. "Enredo," she began worriedly. "Are all the kits safe?"

Spartley wailed louder when he heard the voice of the one who had taken him. He whimpered pathetically and tried to get her attention, before realizing she was gone.

  • Red stands for Gwen, a bloodthirsty, clever she-cat.
    Green stands for Remus, a happy-go-lucky tom-cat, a glass-half-full kind of guy.
White is for Jonelle, a mild, calm she-cat but can go hyper at any moment.
Orange is for Luke, a pessimist tom cat.
    Teal is Meemow herself.

Meemow hissed as the poultice was applied. She opened her eyes as she heard the warning cry. Ting left the den.
    "Don't leave me!" She shrieked.

"Kill the fox," Gwen said. "Show them you're strong."
Meemow paused, her huge yellow eyes unblinking.
Yesyesyes!" Jonelle bounced around. "This is your chance! We can finally be happy if you show them you're not disabled!"
    "Let her choose!" Hissed Remus.
"Leave me alone," mumbled Meemow, lowering her head.

  • Finally, Ting found Spartley. She quickly picked up the kit and then ran back to the disabled hut. "Meemow, I'm here now," she panted, setting down Spartley.

  • Ting licked Spartley's head, checking him for wounds or cuts. Happy that she found none, she lied down next to Meemow and curled her tail around Spartley.

Meemow sprawled out on the ground. "Help me, Ting," she whispered, her yellow eyes wide.
