Fadekit fell silent and stared at her paws.

Foresfern sighed. "It's alright. I'm not mad." She mewed and licked Fadekit again.

Fadekit whimpered a little but looked up from her paws.

Forestfern pulled Fadekit close and purred.

Fadekit closed her eyes but couldn't sleep. She listened to a distant crow in the trees.

Forestfern began to groom Fadekit.

Fadekit twitched her tail.
Meadowfrost came in the nursery with her two kits, Finkit and Sharkkit.

Forestfern smiled as Finkit and Sharkkit padded in with their mother. "Why don't you go play?" She mewed and nodded her head toward the two kits.

Sharkkit looked at Fadekit, and Fadekit staggered up and the two kits play-fought.
Finkit joined in.

Forestfern purred and smiled as she watched Fadekit play.

Fadekit dodged to one side as Sharkkit tried to nip her. Sharkkit had the strength, but Fadekit had the speed and she was smarter. Sharkkit started to lash a paw out, but Fadekit quickly crouched, avoiding the paw.

Forestfern purred and licked a paw.

Finkit went in to nip at Fadekit while Sharkkit lashed out a paw. Fadekit instantly dodged Sharkkit's blow and crouched when Finkit went in to nip her.

Forestfern purred. She was very proud of Fadekit, even if she wasn't her real daughter.

Finkit tripped Fadekit but Fadekit leaped in the air and managed to avoid Finkit and landed on Sharkkit's back, which made Sharkkit squeal with surprise.

Forestfern watched closely, making sure no one got hurt.

Fadekit tripped over her tail and landed on the floor. Finkit poked her and Fadekit leaped onto him, the two kits getting into a tumble-fight.

Forestfern tensed, wondering what was going to happen next.

Sharkkit instantly pinned Fadekit down. Fadekit slid under his belly and fled.
Finkit laughed.
