"No, Breezekit said it wasn't heading for the camp, but we still can't allow it in our territory."

"Let's keep going." They were getting close now and the scent was overpowering.

Mistystar and Dapplefur were side by side racing through the forest thoward the badger, when they burst into a small clearing ringed by bushes. Inside was a huge male badger. He swung his humungous striped head toward the cats.

She had blinded the large creature. He reared on his hind legs...
As Mistystar darted underneath him and bit on his leg.
Dapplefur stood stunned at it's size and a memory stirring deep inside him.
...The badger brought his massive paws down and caught Dapplefur's shoulder, pulling him to the ground.
"No! You will not take my brother! Not again..." Mistystar thought, and hatred fueled her to immense strengths, jumping on top of the badger and clinging to his back.

Mistystar screeched in anger and slashed his face with outstretched claws and bit his ears.
The badger tried desperately to rid himself of Mistystar. She delivered a particularly painful blow, the badger turned and ran.
Mistystar jumped off of him and crouched over the injured cats. Dapplefur had passed out from shock and bloodloss. She put him on her shoulders and regretted the fact that she might have to drag Snowstream. "Snowstream? can you walk?"

Breezekit was laying in the nursery with his head on his paws, worried sick. He didn't hear them return.
Zephyrkit ran up to the strange precession, "Mom! Mom! Oh my gosh, Mom! Are you okay? Dad? What's wrong!? Dad!!" She practically ran sircles around them.
Mistystar walked to the medicine den, and set Dapplefur down carefully.
Genericwind rushed out of his den and leaned on snowstream, supporting her to the den.

Zephyrkit anxiously padded after her mother.
Mistystar stayed by Dapplefur's side. "I knew a tom..." her voice was choked and she found it hard to get the words out. "He was killed by a badger."
Genericwind busily tended to the cats and discovered that Snowstreams wounds were not quite as deep as he had feared, though still severe, and that Dapplefur had broken a bone and had shallow cuts in his right shoulder.

"I know..." She was overcome by tears and sat, crying into Dapplefur's pelt.
Zephyrkit did sit down, but all this strangeness from the adults scared her.
Genericwind began applying herbs to all the cats.

"He's in the nursery and won't come out." Zephyrkit said looking over her shoulder to the entrance of the den.
Dapplefur groaned, and twitched, but didn't wake up.
Mistystar was trying to control herself, but was pretty much failing.

"Mom?" Breezekit quietly whispered from inside the darkness of the den. "Are you okay? Is it gone? Where's dad?" He asked this not in a flurry as Zephyrkit had done, but slowly and quietly.
