• Left paw, right paw. Left paw, right paw. Left paw, right paw. The unsteady rhythm of tiny paws against the ground was the only thing heard in the surrounding territory of Shadowclan camp. The young she-kit was amazed at all the sights and smells of the world. The warm tang of summer was in the air. Tiny little creatures buzzed around her ears, whispering words that were unknown to the young kit. Little did she know that no one else understood what the little critters were saying, except her and anyone else who had the same talent that she possessed; the ability to communicate with insects.

Nobody knew where little Frillykit was heading on her unstable little paws. She continued to stumble, but always picked herself up on her feet again. One thing was for certain; Frillykit was heading towards a body of water, one too steep for a kit her age to swim out of.

The tom didn't exactly know what he was doing. He had already patrolled borders once today, but being a rather active being, he didn't see the reason to just sit around camp. Perhaps if he had a reason too, he would.. but he didn't. Not that he was mulling that one over all the time, it was just a simple fact. He was a good shadowclan warrior, even if he didn't always agree to the things his leader did. Cityscape had been born into Shadowclan, and that he couldn't change.. and so, he had to fulfill his mission in life by living the life that was chosen to him.
His large white paws led him quickly through the slightly damp marsh, and after pausing to catch any hint of a scent that didn't belong, his nose picked up something that shouldn't have been there. It was a curious smell, not one that made the thick fur on the back of his neck stand up, but instead on that just seemed a bit wrong. Scape was a curious being by nature, and he found himself picking up a brisk trot, his muscles moving under his brown tabby and milk splashed coat before the being came into eye view.
The tom had been expecting someone else, and his odd eyes widened slightly at the site of a kit. He didn't exactly know anything about them, he had never been a father before. Even though he had a soft spot for the little things, he.. in no shape or form was fit to take care of one. "Uh.." He said softly as he trotted towards the kit, hoping he wouldn't spook it. "Hey there, little guy... girl?" Cityscape couldn't tell the gender, but didn't really want to be rude. Who knew this could be so hard? "I don't think you should be out here, by yourself." His voice was soft, almost hesitant as he stopped a little ways away, wondering what in the world to do.

  • The soft, confused noise that erected behind Frillykit caught the young kit off guard. It was too cat-like to be mistaken as one of the little flies buzzing around her head, whispering nonsense to one another. Wide, unblinking eyes turned in the direction of the stranger, only to find her face pressed against the ground. Looks as if Frillykit still hasn't mastered the art of walking quite yet. And it upset her that she continued to fall and fall and never improve. So, there was only one option from that point. Frillykit blinked, and the waterworks came, fast and streaming.

Through the blurry tears, Frillykit could make out the large form of a tom, looking down at her. She sniffled back another sob, trying to appear as dauntless as possible. Nothing seemed to bring her mood up. It only dampened some more when the tom couldn't tell that she was a she-kit, not a tom-kit. Was it that painfully obvious that Frillykit wasn't a girl? She was still the delicate lace that her mother, Lapaw, had named her for. Delicate as glass; one wrong move could shatter her completely. And this tom wasn't exactly helping with her gentle, little soul.

"Stwong!" Frillykit meowed, giving herself a little pep talk to brighten her crushed spirits. Who said she wasn't allowed outside? No one! Not her mother, who seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth, nor her father, whom she didn't even know to be Pagannight, the leader of Shadowclan. All she knew were her siblings, who barely seemed to pay attention to her. Soon, Frillykit will come to realize that only insects were her true friends, and no one else. No one understood her except her soon-to-be best friends, the ones who were whispering the nonsense around her.

Finally, after a lot of pondering, Frillykit decided to give the tom a chance. What could go wrong? "Uh... um... h-.... h-..... hwi!" Her range of vocabulary was still very small and short.

Cityscape was stumped indeed. Especially when the she kit (he could tell now, quite easily once he got a bit closer) started crying. The brown tabby got uncomfortable quite easily, even more so when other cats cried. What was a feline to do, when another started crying? It was always a question he had always thought to himself, and now he wished he had an answer. He didn't want to scare the tiny little female, but he also didn't want to act like he didn't care.. so he settled on flicking his tail over her backside, a sad attempt at comfort. At least he could say he tried.
Scape blinked at her outburst of motivation, a bit amused by her act of melancholy. She was cute, even he had to admit. (not that he thought kits weren't cute) and a small smile spread across his handsoem features. At her last, slightly odd worded vocabulary he had to chuckle, the sound coming from deep in his moon splashed chest. "Hello there. Are you lost?" The male's head tilted slightly to the side once again, something he did when he wanted to know something. "I'm Cityscape.. whats your name?"

  • Frillykit, while sobbing, had felt just the lightest of pressure upon her small back. The she-kit knew, without even turning around to investigate, that the tom was attempting to comfort her. And it made her feel loads better, knowing someone was trying to make her feel better. Frillykit would have preferred if it was her mother or her unknown father, but the tom was kind enough so she accepted the offer with a small smile and a light giggle of appreciation. She liked this tom. Maybe he was her father and she just didn't know because she'd never met him?

Lost? Frillykit wasn't lost. She just wanted to explore. Camp got a little boring after a while, even if she had arrived just a few hours ago. The outside world interested her far more than some silly tale being told by the queens to the kits. "No. Not lost." Frillykit shook her little head for emphasis. "Adwenture!" Just the word itself sent a ripple of adrenaline and excitement through her tiny body. Maybe this tom could join her? Oh, it would be so much fun! "I Frillykit. Woo join me?" Baby blues blinked up at him sweetly.

Thankfully his action had caused her to stop crying, because he hadn't been exactly sure how much more of that he could take. He tried following what she was saying with care, and he found himself nodding at her statement that she wast lost. He to, had felt that drive and instinct to be adventurous when he was a kit, and could relate to her unending desire to see what was outside in the world.
"Well Frillykit." Scape said with a soft smile, lowering his masculine head so he could get the females attention. "Rule number one about going on an adventure. Always bring someone else along, alright? It's a lot safer that way." The odd eyed tom blinked, his brow wrinkling slightly as he spoke, before he caught himself. "- not that you need someone to look after you, because you look pretty strong to me.. it's just nice to have someone to go along with." He couldn't help but feek a bit proud of himself, he hadn't thought he could do this well.

  • Frillykit's smile only widened further as the tom crouched lower so that they were at eye level. She blinked slowly, studying his face as she did so. He looked... excited, in her opinion. Had he been like her once, always seeking adventure, always looking beyond the other side of the fence? Like a puppy would when excited, Frillykit's little tail lightly thumped against the ground in anticipation and excitement. Her little heart started to flutter. "Mmhm?" The she-kit mumbled, tilting her head to the side with one ear flopped over her head, trying to keep her adrenaline-filled body under control.

Safe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Frillykit sighed. She knew the tom wasn't what she had expected. He just wanted to follow her to make sure she was "safe." All the adults seemed so... stiff. She had never, in her four weeks of living, ever seen a cat let loose and just have a little adventure in their lives. All in all, adults were boring. Frillykit didn't want to be boring. She wanted to be the life of the party, the one everyone was talking about. To make that happen, Frillykit needed to do noticeable things. Like sneak out of camp.

She looked up at him then, a little bit of shock in her eyes. He called her strong. The first compliment in her entire life was that she was strong. "Wes, I stwong! We be stwong togetar, Sissysape!"

This tiny little bundle of joy was sure growing on the tom, even he had to admit. A small smile played on his lips at her words, her attempt at saying his name adorable in every way, even though in front of another cat he would have been a bit embarrassed. "So what are you doing out of camp anyways, hmm?" He said with a playful raise of his eyebrows, before he sat and wrapped his tail neatly around his front paws, giving it a small thump on the ground. • Frillykit cocked her head to the side, thinking hard. Why was she out of camp? Well, adventure was definitely one thing. That was the main reason. But, there was also something else nagging at the back of her kitten mind to mention. The bugs told her to come out of the camp. They continued to buzz around her ears, telling her sweet nothings. "Bugs!" The she-kit randomly blurted out, twitching her ears for emphasis. Of course, Cityscape wouldn't have any idea what she was talking about. Frillykit didn't want to explain any further.

  •

Cityscape was learning that kits were full of surprises. But he also knew that kits had a different mindset than other clan cats, one that was open and carefree, not clouded by beliefs or morals.. and so he thought that there words were special and un tainted by things that they soon would be once they got older. Bugs? It was a complex thing for the brown tabby and white to wrap his head around, and a confused look crossed his features. "What do you mean?"

  • Frillykit sighed in exasperation. Great, now she had to explain to the tom that the bugs had talked her into coming outside. Couldn't he hear them talking, too? "Bugs. Talk to me." She lifted her paw and placed it on her heart, then gestured at the flies that buzzed around her head. "Said adwenture ouside. Lisened and follow." Frillykit placed her paw on the ground again and looked at Cityscape. "Hear bugs?" She questioned him with a tilt of her little head and a curious blink.
