He shrugged. The camp was still a ways away and it was getting darker.
-
Dovepaw shivered. This time it really was cold out.
-
He felt her shiver and moved closer, blocking her from the wind and warming her with his thick pelt.
-
Dovepaw felt no more draft of the wind, and realized that Snaketooth was protecting her. "Oh Snaketooth, aren'y uyou cold? I'll be fine!"
-
"Nah. I've got thick fur," he replied.
-
"Oh, okay.", Dovepaw said, feeling guilty even if he was okay.
-
When they arrived back at camp, he made his way to the warriors' den without a word to her.
-
Dovepaw hurried to the apprentices den, looking back to see if he would even say good night.
-
He kept going.
-
Dovepaw could feel sadness creeping up her spine. She knew she should have never tried to get his attention. Dovepaw padded quietly tiwards the den.
-
Then he hesitated. "Night," he called to her before moving on.
-
Dovepaw turned around as she heard the call. "Oh, night.", she said, still upset.
-
He paused and padded over to her. "Something wrong?" He asked, concerned.
-
Dovepaw sighed. "No, nothing's wrong.", she lied.
-
"You can tell me," he murmured, gazing down at her.
-
Dovepaw could feel anger burning inside her. "You don't need to concern yourself with me anymore!", she hissed. And with that, she whirled around and stalked off to the apprentices den, her head and tail held high.
-
Bewildered, he blocked her way. "What does that mean?" He asked, confused.
-
Dovepaw looked up at Snaketooth. Hissing, she turned around and fled to the entrance.
-
He let her go, shaking his head. He padded to the Warrior's den and curled up in a ball in his nest.
