    He looked shocked. Hardly anyone complimented him, cause of his Thunderclan blood.
    "T-thanks."

    Shadowpaw smiled and twitched his ear. He purred back at her.

    He looked at her, his purr dieing in his throat.
    "What?" he meowed.

    "Well, if you dont mind me asking, its about your mentor.." her eyes glittered with sadness.

    His eyes darkened, with pain.
    "Yeah?" he meowed softly.

    "Well..What h-happened to him?" the words nearly mead her retch out her lunch, seeing the pain in his eyes.

    He looked at his paws.
    "He saved me, from a dog. I couldn't get out of the way and he pushed me before the dog could snap my neck. I ran up a tree and watched as he died. I couldn't help him. The dog left before he was dead and I came down the tree but he was almost dead. He told me it wasn't my fault, but it was. If I hadn't froze, he'd still be alive." he meowed.

    Winterpaw tried again this time excelling in his balance and lowering his tail to the ground, his forced his ears to lay flat against his head but they popped back up.

    She rested her tail on his shoulder. "Its alright, he is still watching you in starclan," she mewed.

    Shadowpaw looked at her, his eyes darkened with grief. He gave a half-smile.
    "Yeah, he is."

    Flamepool smiled at her apprentices work. "You did pretty good." She meowed. Then she looked at her apprentice. "Want to see the river? I can teach you how to hunt."

    She turned her head to the other apprentices as she waited for hers to answer. "Do you know how to fish?" She asked them politely.

    Flamepool nodded at her apprentice. "Follow me." She meowed, and raced off towards the river.

    She folowed, but looked over her shoulder to see if her was okay. It wasnt fair to him, to not have a mentor, let alone have one die right in front of him.

    Shadowpaw padded after Streampaw, his tail dropping, his head full of memories.
