Snowberry padded up to Frostpaw.
-
"Hello, are you going to be my mentor?" Frostpaw meowed.
-
"Yes. Would you like to begin training today?"
-
"Yes!" She bounced with delight.
-
Snowberry flicked her whiskers in amusement. "Don't get over-excited, because we're starting with getting bedding for the elders."
-
She nodded, pleased to do somthing. "Where do we go?"
-
Snowberry flicked her tail and started for the exit to the camp. "Down to the lake. The trees nearby are bound to have some moss."
-
She nodded and bounded out of the camp. Frostpaw skidded to a halt infront of the lake and looked around for moss, sniffing at each tree carefully.
-
"Don't look close to the shore. You know the elders will act as if some one put mouse bile in their freshkill if you gave them wet moss."
-
She purred a laugh, but knew she was serious. "Gotcha." The pretty apprentice took a swipe at the root of moss by a tree a little ways away from the water.
-
Snowberry was glad that her apprentice was enjoying her training. Helping her collect, she began to give advice. "This moss is soft and dry; the elders will enjoy it," she praised her apprentice. "Be sure to take out any thorns or dirt, though. It wouldn't improve upon their grumpy temper. And while we're at it, we should collect some for the queens as well."
-
She nodded. While picking out the few thorns in her collected moss, she mewed, "When do we start battle training?"
-
"I was thinking of hunting next, but if you're not too tired we can continue with battle training right after we bring the moss back to camp."
-
Frostpaws heart leaped. "Yes!" She clenched the moss in her jaw and stored more under her chin. It looked awkward, but she'd get it all back faster.
-
Snowberry helped her bring some back to camp.
-
When they got back, she gave some moss to the elders first, then carried the rest to the queens, smiling at the kits. "I wish I could be a queen and a warrior." Frostpaw murmered. Then turned to Snowberry. "So, now?"
-
Snowberry flicked her tail. "Follow me." She led the way on a well worn path until they reached the training hollow. It was near enough to the lake that they could smell the water. When they arrived, Snowberry meowed,"Let's just see what you have caught on before. Come at me."
-
Frostpaw never learned battle moves before, so she was going to wing it with luck. She bundled her muscles together, and bounded torwards her. Don't jump ontop.. She'll be expecting that. A strange voice in her head said, Slide under. Dismantle her paws, then hold her down from the top. Frostpaw listened to it, and swung under Snowberry, swiping at her paws with sheathed claws and prepared to flip on top of her.
-
Snowberry easily dodged out of the way, but stumbled, not expecting such a different attack. She swung around and aimed a leap at Frostpaw as the apprentice landed.
