    Rainypaw was sitting in the middle of the empty BlazingClan camp. Nighttime had fallen upon the territory and most of the clan had fallen asleep or at least gone to their nests at by that point at night, so she was pretty sure that she was alone out there. The RiverClan apprentice was on her first night with the new clan and she was taking it like an unsheathed claw to the throat. She had learned more truth in that day than most cats her age could handle, but she was taking it well compared to what others may have acted if they had learned what she had learned. Her father, whose name she refused even to think about, was a...Well, he was a word that shouldn't be mentioned and more.


    Two of her littermates, Coloredpaw and Fairypaw had all ended up in BlazingClan one way or another, whether it was from following Rainypaw, or just coming because they felt like it. She wondered what her mother was doing back in RiverClan. Whether or not she was staring up at the same night sky as she was and enjoying the cool breeze that came with it. Well, Rainypaw didn't particularly enjoy the coldness, but she wanted to feel it's sharpness despite the fact that it was dull. If a twister were to come spinning through the camp at that very moment, she would've just sat there, lost in the dark world that was her mind.

    The sky was beautiful tonight. Yes it was. Counterkit was stalking around the edge of camp, enjoying the cool breeze and the since of freedom that came with it. He was still thinking about being scolded by Darkententions about catnip. Yet, that one little taste of catnip was now driving him wild. He wanted more but he knew he wasn't aloud to. When he was olde he would probably still crave the smell and taste of that one herb. Its bad for me. He thought, bitterly. An unhappy look appeared upon his maw. Why couldn't he have more? Just one eensy beensy taste? No! he scolded himself silently. Why was he fighting with himself? Counterkit knew he wanted that catnip but nooooo, its bad for you. He could still hear the scolding he got from Darkentenions.


    Spotting Rainypaw, he sat down. He was studying her, trying to figure out what she was doing. Well thinking obviously but what about. Maybe she was thinking about her father? Why would she think about that dadgum jerk? Tatteredstar killed his sister! He was a no good rotten- well nevermind. He didn't need to remind himself that Tatteredstar was a bad guy. Counterkit stayed in the shadows, not daring to step out and start an unwanted conversation with Rainypaw. He looked from the nursery to Rainypaw. How was he to get past without being seen. There was no possible way! Maybe he could book it? Nah she'd see him!


    Slowly he stalked out into the light, then he ran for it. His little paws carrying him faster than his body. Then the race was over, he had tripped and fell. Did it hurt? Of course it hurt! He had just tripped and fell flat on his face! He dragged himself of the ground, giving her an embarressing look. "Ohh, ummm." he murmured awkwardly. Counterkit wasw so embarressed he could cry!

    Rainypaw instantly jerked out of her h*ll of a mind as she heard and saw the kit stumble and fall. "You quite alright, there?" She asked, trying to hide the amusement that was bubbling up within her body. Hey, at least something had made her feel slightly better. She recognized the kit whom had been scolded by Darkintentions for eating catnip. Now, instead of disgust, she couldn't help the sympathy that bubbled in her belly when she thought about it. Most catnip abusers generally had problems in their lives, and frankly she was considering turning to it as well.

    "Fine? Is that all that you have to say?" Rainypaw asked, her eyes revealing her disbelief, not to mention the shrill squeak in her tone. After a few moments, she realized that if the kit were to go into the nursery, she would be left once more in solitude. So in otherwords, she would be left with her thoughts which was not a good thing. "Thanks for leading me to camp," She meowed, her voice softening a little bit along with her tight facial expression.

    "Welcome?" Rainypaw was now rolling her eyes,"Wow, you seemed way more talkative when you were high, you know that?" The young she-cat meowed, and she knew that she talked way too much compared to others, but she also knew that Counterkit spoke too little to be a normal kit. "You know, my sister Dahliapaw spoke to me more than that, and she was always off speaking to birds or something of the sort." There was a small note of wistfulness in her tone.
