The beast refused to release the she-cat and leaned down, fangs glistening and ready to claim its next kill. Before it got the chance to position its jaws on the cat a gunshot in the distance distracted it.

Chronaflash leaped down, crouching next to Timestar. "Timestar? How bad is it?" She whispered.
-
Timestar coughed up some blood and tried to lift his head to look at Chronaflash. "I fear I may lose a life..."
-
"What life will that be?" She asked worriedly, curling beside him.
-
"This will be the first." Timestar spoke, this would leave him with eight lives left.
-
Chronaflash nodded, moving to his side to keep him warm. "Does anything feel broken?"
-
Rippleshine coughed up blood, she attempted to stand but fell, she couldn't put any weight on her front left paw
-
The beast turned and ran back up the rocky slope before disappearing into the shadows. The sounds of gunshots off in the distance had spooked it.
Timestar was struggling to breathe and more blood filled his mouth. "My ribs..." He whispered before he laid still, his sides no longer moving.
-
Rippleshine got up and limped over, finally managing to put a little weight on her paw. "Timestar? Ar...are you okay?" she croaked, concern lighting her deep ocean blue eyes
-
Timestar's body was cold and lifeless.
-
Rippleshine's gaze lowered, her ears flattened against her head and her tail drooped. He's losing a life! It's all my fault! I should have done something sooner rather than standing there gaping at it like a mouse-brain she thought sadly
-
Timestar inhaled deeply as he entered his next life. He coughed and spluttered and his sides heaved.
-
Rippleshine gazed at him, her eyes dull and empty, a large wound across her face caused blood to begin forming a small puddle beneath her, her face was emotionless as she beat herself up inside. She remained silent, not saying a word, it was as if she had seen a ghost
-
Timestar slowly stood up but was uneasy on his feet and repeatedly fell over.
-
Rippleshine gazed at him thoughtfully. "here, lean on me" she mewes
-
Timestar shuffled over to the she-cat and leaned against her. "Thank you."
-
Chronaflash took the other side of Timestar glancing around.
-
Rippleshine flicked her tail. "do not thank me," she meowed
-
Timestar slowly raised his head and looked at Rippleshine. "Are you hurt badly?" He noticed the blood on the she-cat.
-
Rippleshine shook her head."It's just a scratch" she responded
