IC: Tora's eyes fluttered open. She looked out the window beside her small bed.

  • Raina was lying in bed, trying to enjoy her last moments of sleep when her sister stormed in the room. She ripped the covers off and grabbed her arm. "What's the big idea?" Raina demanded, pushing her hand away.

"It's the reaping day. You need to go and get some food for the family you lazy little-"

"I'm staying in bed. The Peacekeepers would kill me for sure if they caught me today!" Raina said, taking the covers back.

Her sister ripped off the covers and started beating her. Raina pushed herself out of bed and onto her sister, punching and kicking her as hard as she could.

  • Mason sat sat alone on the beach close to his family's home. His eyes were locked on the seemingly endless water in front of him. He listened quietly to the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore, the calls of seagulls, and the other fishermen chat and call orders to their crews. The dark haired young man glanced around then returned his gaze back to the ocean. He was wearing a simple baby blue unbuttoned shirt, and light brown shorts. On his left wrist was the bracelet woven with seaweed and small, pink pearls. He sighed, his mind of the Reaping that was to be held later that day.

  • Tora sat up. She sighed. I guess I'd better get out of bed, the girl thought to herself, unwilling to leave the warmth of the covers.
She looked over at her younger sister. She had short, golden blonde hair and green eyes.
Tora's parents had died when she was Altaira's - her sister - age. Ever since, it has been her job to look after the young girl.
She walked into the small living room. The house only held three rooms - their room, the living room, where the kitchen was also located, and a bathroom. Tora decided she needed to go get something to eat. She changed into her hunting clothes, and decided to hunt with a bow & arrow today. She hunted with other weapons, but this was her favorite, by far.
She braided back her very long brown hair - barely. She couldn't braid very well, not on herself, anyway.
She sneaked out of the District and slipped under the electric fence, which most of the time was off.

  • Rosy Winda woke up to the gentle voice of her twin sister, Cennie, in her ear. "Rosy! Wake up, it's reaping day!" That wasn't necessarily the best way to wake up to yet another day in District Five.
"Let me sleep." Rosy grumbled, taking the pillow and hitting her sister with it.
"Hey!" Cennie laughed, grabbing the pillow and hitting Rosy with it.
"Alright, alright." Rosy giggled, sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of her eyes,"What are we wearing?"
"I don't know!" For years, Rosy and Cennie would always wear the same cloting to "special" events, and why do something different for the reaping?
Sighing, the twelve year old girl jumped out of the bed and stumbled over to the wardrobe,"How about this?" Rosy asked, pulling out two green cotton dresses.
"That's fine." Her twin agreed and they quickly slipped into the itchy dresses and proceeded to take turns combing out eachother's hair. The two girls literally did everything together.

  • Jessica looked around her small home. For years she hadnt been picked and yet she couldnt help but dread the fact that today she could get picked. She tiredly got into a blue cotten dress and looked at her mother. She looked away after a moment before leaving with the whole family.

  • Oceana woke up and opened her eyes slowly. She almost ammediatly remembered what day it was and sighed. Oceana got out of her bed and looked around. A light blue dress was placed on her chair. She put it on and her shoes. She walked outside and could already smell the atr from the beach. The odds were not in her favor this year. The name Oceana Smith had been entered many times - possibly too many times.

  • Mason looked at the pale white sand around him, then stood up, took off his shirt, and ran towards the dock. When he was at the edge of the wooden structure, he dove swiftly into the cool, sparkling water. He was surrounded by the salty water he called home. For a while, he just did flips and messed with the fish that swam up close to him. After what felt like eternity, he came back to the surface for air, his lips curved into a smile.

  • A couple hours later, Raina entered the forest. She had a bruise on her upper arm and another one on her lower cheek. "Stupid sister...I hope she gets sent to the Hunger Games," she muttered. She walked through the trees, avoiding the eyes of people. She was in the woods soon and she felt great. "I can finally breathe again," she sighed. She lied down on the hill and stared into the clouds.

  • Rosy and her sister had been raised by her twenty-seven year old brother ever since their parents had been arrested by peacekeepers after protesting against something that even her brother, Drewus, didn't know.
"Hey Drewus." Both Rosy and Cennie waved to their brother who was sitting in the recliner humming an old lullaby that they had used to sing together. It was silly and fun, but it was a lullaby.
"G`morning girls." Drewus smiled, standing up, his song coming to an abrupt stop. Rosy narrowed her eyes at the sight of his brother's face. He had bags under his eyes and his eyes were dark with worry. He obviously hadn't slept at all.
"C'mon, Drewus! You should've slept!" Rosy stated, running over and throwing her arms around her brother's neck in a hug.
"I know, I know. It's just that I don't know what I'll do if one of you girls are picked." Drewus sighed,"It's only your first year."
"It'll be fine Drewus." Cennie smiled, joining into the hug, althought both girls had their names in the bowl a good fifty or sixty times even though it was their first year.
    A faint noise was coming from her brother and at first Rosy thought that he was crying, but as she listened she heard him singing an old song;

Drowning fish, why do you drown?
There is no time to fool around.
    Under the water or above,
you my friends are the ones I love.

  • Tora quietly crept in the forest until she saw something in the corner of her eye. She whipped around and swiftly shot a squirrel straight through the eye. "Yes!" she whispered as she went to pick up her kill.

After about an hour or so of hunting, Tora headed back home with a good amount of prey. She wanted to relax in the forest for a while, but Altaira was probably hungry. She shouldn't keep her waiting.
She slipped under the fence and went into the house. "Tora?" a high pitched voice called. "Is that you?" "Yes," she called back.
Altaira walked out of the room and stood in the hallway, her green eyes staring back at her sister. "Where were you?" "Hunting." "Good, I'm hungry."
Tora laid out the animals and got them ready to eat. "Will I get picked for the Hunger Games?" Altaira asked. Tora smiled. "No, you're not even old enough." Altaira laughed. "I know."
Later on, they began to eat. "...Tora." the blonde girl said. "Hm?" "...Will you get picked?" Tora stared at her food. She didn't know. She hoped not. If she died at the Games, Altaira would be all alone. With nobody to protect her. She would never last. "...Don't worry about it." she replied.

  • Rosy smiled gently at her brother. Despite the huge age gap, her brother seemed to be the big baby and her and Cennie seemed to be the mature ones even though they were both only twelve.
"You girls look beautiful." Her brother sighed, finally pulling away from them.
"Thank you!" Rosy giggled, curtsying playfully. The cotton dress was as itchy as heck, but apparently it wasn't comfortable to feel pretty.
"Roro...What happens if we do happen to get picked? One of us, I mean?" Cennie asked in a small voice. Ever since they were about seven, Cennie had called her Roro.
"The we volunteer for eachother. If I get picked, you volunteer and if you get picked then I volunteer," Rosy smiled slightly and she knew with all of her heart that if her sister did happen to get picked then she would volunteer.

  • Terry woke up on the floor, his face firmly against the wooden boards. He groaned, getting up, rubbing his red cheek that had little grit's of dirt stuck to it. He stretched, loosening up the stiff sore muscles, making him sigh with pleasure. He looked over to the bed he was supposed to be laying in, seeing all his younger sibling's piled onto it, scared probably, from nightmare's and climbed in with him. He chuckled, used to waking up on the floor since every night before reaping day.

" I should get us up and ready....."

The young male said, smiling as he roused each sibling, all boy's, up and ready into nice clothing. Around the time when they were making noise, two grown people walked in, their expression's tired looking. The mom had a full belly, and the sight of it made Terry smile. A new sibling, maybe a girl this time! He chuckled, and the family sauntered off, ready for reaping time.

  • "You girls ready to go?" Drewus asked with a sigh. Rosy personally wanted nothing more than to stay in the safety of their little worn-down shack, but that would only cause trouble.
"As ready as I'll ever be." Rosy sighed, taking her sister's hand. With that, the three siblings walked out of the door and headed for the District Five square.

  • Standing by her usual tree, Joy waited for the reaping to start, hoping that she wouldn't get chosen.

  • In the District Five square, Rosy and Cennie parted from their brother and headed for the twelve year old age group. Many of the other children were chatting among themselves, but Cennie and Rosy only needed the warmth of eachother's hand as the District Fove tribute escort stepped forward,"Welcome, welcome..." She began in her squeaky Capitol freak voice.

  • Getting bored, Joy was thinking about wandering around but the square started to fill. Rolling her eyes, she joined her family up at the front.

  • When Raina opened her eyes again the sun was high above her. She sat upright. "The reaping!" She cried. She ran back to the house and started to get dressed. Her mother and sister had already left. She pulled on her light green dress sun dress and her flats. She put her hair in a bun and ran out the door.
