  • Wel[p], I'm just hunting here... (mocking)

The smooth, soft blades of grass sprouting from the earth was cool and rather ticklish underpaw. The horizon was a brilliant cerulean with splashes of color here and there, and whisps of clouds covering the sky. Some of the Sun was covered by one of the very few nimbus clouds floating up above. A shape swerved his way through the trees, it's grey-brown and black coloration blending well with the towering trunks.

Smokepaw slightly tilted his head back and parted his roseate maw, tasting the air and wind for any signs of rodents or birds. Catching a strong trace of squirrel, the apprentice broke into a quiet trot, yellow eyes scanning the area, when he finally spotted the fluffy grey creature, nibbling on a seed while rested atop a tree root. The tom crouched down slowly, eyes focused in on the fluffy rodent.

OOC: Permission for Solarpaw to use telepathy on Smokepaw? ^^

    IC:

It was a rather beautiful day. Solarpaw's thoughts wafted to Limepaw and how they hunted everyday together. It was almost like love at first sight, but it wasn't. The silver tabby saw a squirrel nibbling on a seed and instinctively crouched down, oblivious to Smokepaw.

Solarpaw leaped, catching the squirrel squarely beneath her white paws. When she noticed Smokepaw, she frowned. "Oh. Sorry." she meowed apologetically. "Didn't see you there."

    Ooc } Permission granted :D

The tabby frowned angrily, giving Solarpaw a hard look, then he just shrugged. "Doesn't matter." he meowed, flicking his tail in obvious irritation. Smokepaw sat down and began to groom himself, his tongue beginning the wash by stroking his shoulder.

Solarpaw searched through Smokepaw's thoughts, only coming up with anger and irritation. The silver tabby flicked her tail, "You should've caught it earlier then," she rebuttled to Smokepaw.

"I would have if you hadn't showed up," Smokepaw growled, his yellow eyes shooting a glare at the she-cat. Then he cocked his head, confused; the tom hadn't said anything about how he was irritated about how she caught the squirrel instead of him. "What do you mean? I didn't say anything."

Solarpaw's green eyes flashed, "Never judge a cat by its fur," she retorted, flicking her tail in response to Smokepaw. It was up to him to figure out how she knew, much less did she know how she did it. His confusion swept into her and she looked at him, "You didn't say it verbally but you said it mentally."

The tom just shrugged away his confusion, which was quickly replaced with suspicion and curiosity. He frowned for a moment and continued grooming himself. Between licks, he managed to meow, "You're welcome, and I suppose not."

The tabby apprentice bobbed his head head in a series of nods, then stopped and eyed the she-cat critically, trying to figure out what's out of place and odd about her. She seemed to know what he felt and what he thinking, and Smokepaw found it to be extremely strange. He looked up and locked his eyes on her. "You're Solarpaw, no?"

Smokepaw sighed, suddenly feeling bad, and he flopped onto the forest earth in a whoosh. The grey-brown tabby traced his claw in the dirt, making a bunch of squiggly lines that could mean anything.
"I'm sorry. This... power is just confusing me, so much it irritates and frustrates me. Please don't take this personally, Solarpaw," he muttered, not looking up at her.

Solarpaw looked away. "I guess I can't change how you think, however." she said softly, looking at the sky. "Maybe some things could change. I wish. Having telepathy is a burden and a blessing."
