He took a deep breath, "Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love. She is sometimes known as the Cyprian because there was a cult center of Aphrodite on Cyprus. Aphrodite is the mother of the god of love, Eros more familiar as Cupid. She is the wife of the ugliest of the gods, Hephaestus. Unlike the powerful virginal goddesses, Athena and Artemis, or the faithful goddess of marriage, Hera, she has love affairs with gods and mortals. Aphrodite's birth story makes her relation to the other gods and goddesses of Mt. Olympus ambiguous she is also known as Venus. Apollo is a many-talented Greek god of prophecy, music, intellectual pursuits, healing, plague, and sometimes, the sun. Writers often contrast the cerebral, beardless young Apollo with his half-brother, the hedonistic Dionysus, god of wine. Leto (Latona) and Zeus (Jupiter) are the parents of the versatile god Apollo and his twin sister Artemis (Diana), the virgin hunter. There were 2 main sites to honor him 1. Delphi site of the famous oracle and 2. Delos, his birthplace he is also known as Apollo or Phoebus. Ares is a war god and god of violence in Greek mythology. He was not well-liked or trusted by the ancient Greeks and there are few tales in which he plays a major role. Cults of Ares are found mainly in Crete and the Peloponnese where the militaristic Spartans honored him. Athena is also a war goddess, but was well-respected, as a polis protector and goddess of strategy instead of Ares' forte, mayhem and destruction.Ares appears in what one might call bit parts, overshadowed by heroes or other gods, and in many battle scenes in Greek mythology. In the Iliad, Ares is wounded, treated, and returns to the fray he is also known as Mars and has had plenty of affairs with Aphrodite. Artemis is the twin sister of Apollo. She is a goddess of transitions, a hunter, a virgin, and one of the goddesses who assists at childbirth. She was on the Trojan side in Homer's Iliad she is the twin sister to Apollo and is also known as Diana. Athena is the name of an important goddess for the Greeks She is the patron goddess of Athens, the goddess of wisdom, a goddess of arts and crafts agriculture, navigation, spinning, weaving, and needlework, the favorite daughter of her father Zeus, and, as a war goddess with a focus on strategy more than bloodshed, an active participant in the Trojan War. She gave Athens the gift of the olive tree, providing oil, food, and wood she is also known as Minerva." he paused to take a deep breath, "Demeter is a goddess of fertility, grain, and agriculture. She is pictured as a mature motherly figure. Although she is the goddess who taught mankind about agriculture, she is also the goddess responsible for creating winter and a mystery religious cult. She is usually accompanied by her daughter Persephone she is also known as Ceres. Although Hades (the Unseen One) is an Olympian god, he is the Lord of the Underworld and ruler of the dead. Hades is not the god of death, however -- that's Thanatos. Hades rules those given proper funeral rites and brought over to the other side by Charon. Hades complained about Apollo's son, the healer Asclepius because he restored people to life, thereby reducing Hades' dominions. Hades inflicted Thebes with plague probably because they weren't burying the slain and therefore were denying bodies for Hades to have dominion over The name Hades is generally applied to the realm of the Underworld: Hades = Hades' realm Hades is feared and hated. An oath taken on his name is especially binding he is also known as Pluto. Hephaestus is a Greek god of volcanoes, a craftsman and blacksmith. He lusted after Athena, another crafts person, and in some versions is the husband of Aphrodite. He was thrown from Mt. Olympus and in some version landed in Lemnos where he built his furnaces under a volcano. He is also associated with Mt. Aetna he is also known as Vulcan. In Greek mythology, the beautiful goddess Hera was queen of the Greek gods and the wife of Zeus, the king. Hera was goddess of marriage and childbirth. Since Hera's husband was Zeus, king not only of gods, but of philanderers, Hera spent a lot of time in Greek mythology angry with Zeus. So Hera is described as jealous and quarrelsome she is also known as Juno. Hermes is familiar as the messenger god in Greek mythology. In a related capacity, he brought the dead to the Underworld in his role of "Psychopompos". Zeus made his thieving son Hermes god of commerce. Hermes invented various devices, especially musical ones, and possibly fire. He is known as a helpful god. Another aspect of Hermes is fertility god. It may be in connection with this role that the Greeks sculpted phallic stone markers or herms for Hermes he is also known as Mercury. The honored, first born of the Olympian gods, Greek goddess Hestia is also called the last born because her father swallowed his children and then regurgitated them in reverse order. Hestia has power over altars, hearths, town halls and states. In return for a vow of chastity, Zeus assigned honor to Hestia in human homes she however is no longer a member of the council as she gave her place for Dionysus who we will not hear about, she is also known as Vesta. The deities Cronos (also spelled Cronus or Kronos/Kronus) and his wife Rhea were the rulers of the world in the Golden Age. Cronos was the youngest of the first-generation Titans and the father of the gods and goddesses of Mt. Olympus. The first-generation Titans were children of Earth and Sky. Earth was known as Gaia and Sky as Ouranos or Uranus. The Titans weren't the only children of Gaia and Ouranos. There were also the 100-handers or Hecatoncheires and the Cyclopes. These brothers of the Titans Ouranos had imprisoned in the Underworld in the place of torment known as Tartarus (Tartaros) Zeus released him from Tartarus so he could rule the Isles of Blest, what a jerk, anyways he is also know as Saturn. Persephone was the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. While she was playing, Persephone was abducted by Hades who had come for her in a chariot. He quickly and secretly dragged her down to his kingdom, where she stayed unwillingly, refusing to eat. Finally, after Persephone's mother Demeter persuaded Zeus to make Hades return her daughter to her, Persephone relaxed and ate a bit (a few pomegranate seeds). Because of this, Persephone was compelled to spend part of her life there with Hades. During this time, Demeter mourns, and so, Earth experiences winter. When Persephone returns, it becomes spring. This story lies behind the Eleusinian mysteries. Persephone is often called kore, the maiden. She is also called the queen of the Underworld. Theseus was involved in an attempt to steal Persephone from the Underworld she is not a member of the council, she is also known as Kore or Proserpina. Poseidon is one of the 3 top gods in Greek mythology, brothers who divided the world among themselves. Poseidon's lot was the sea. As sea god Poseidon is usually seen with a trident. He is the god of water, horses, and earthquakes and was considered responsible for shipwrecks and drownings he is also known as Neptune. eus is father of gods and men. A sky god, he controls lightning, which he uses as a weapon, and thunder. He is king on Mount Olympus, the home of the Greek gods. He is also credited as the father of Greek heroes and the ancestor of many other Greeks. Zeus mated with many mortals and goddesses but is married to his sister Hera (Juno) he is also known as Jupiter. And that's all." he smiled.

There are few stories about Hades since he spends most of his time among the non-living.
