    Reedstar turned her face to Echopelt this time. "So, Echopelt. I can see in your eyes you have something to tell me?"


    Eaglefur went back to bed.


    Foxkit waited for Lilykit and Nettlekit to come over and then she said, "Hey! Do you guys wanna play tag?" The kits responded "Yes." Then they started to chase each other around the camp clearing, nearly knocking Cedarblaze over.

    Eaglefur woke up and counted his supply of comfrey. "Oh!" Eaglefur had forgotten. He had noticed in Autumntail's first litter of kits there was one kit that should have been a medicine cat. Sunkit. He hoped her new name would be Sunpaw, and be his apprentice. I really do need an apprentice. I admit, I am not young, and I need a successor. Hopefully it will be Sunkit . . . or Sunpaw. He would talk to Reedstar about that. He went over to her den, but she was talking to Echopelt. I suppose I should stay out of this, he thought.


    Foxkit grew tired, so she went back to the nursery to see Autumntail. Autumntail suckled her, and then Foxkit went back to sleep.

    Since Echopelt wasn't answering Reedstar, she went outside to talk to Oceanfire. Maybe she would have another talk with Echopelt later. That Echopelt. I am just FED UP with him. When she spied Oceanfire's bushy red pelt, she padded over to her. "Hi, Oceanfire. Have you noticed anything strange with Echopelt lately? He's acting kind of weird." Why was Echopelt doing this? Reedstar had no clue. However, Oceanfire seemed very trustworthy. After she had finished with Oceanfire, Eaglefur bounded up to her and told her about Sunkit. Apparently he wanted her to be a medicine cat apprentice. Also, he thought two of the apprentices should become warriors. "You're absolutley right. I will perform the ceremonies right away." she mewed.


    Eaglefur saw Reedstar talking to Oceanfire. When she had padded away from the cat, Eaglefur bounded up to her and told her about Sunkit. "I think Sunkit is the appropriate cat to be a medicine cat's apprentice -- my apprentice. She has shown all the necessary qualities: compassion, kindness, sympathy, and empathy for other cats. Then, she also told me she has weird dreams about cats with stars in their fur. Do you think we should perform the apprentice ceremonies for Sunkit and Leafkit soon? Also, I think it's time for Hawkpaw and Stonepaw to become warriors, not that it's my decision, though." Then Reedstar said it WAS time for Hawkpaw and Stonepaw to become warriors, and Sunkit and Leafkit apprentices. YAY!


    Foxkit woke up from her short siesta, and then she went to see Sunkit and Leafkit. "Do you want to play?" she mewled. "What do you want to play?" she said, not waiting for them to answer.

    Echopelt was frozen. When Reedstar left, he ran. He ran into the forest and stabbed himself in the paw with a sharp rock. Blood gushed from it. "I am not fit for this clan," he whispered over and over, tears flooding from his eyes.


    Dirtkit saw Echopelt run. "He seems sad," he thought. He ran back to the nursery. "Mama," she said to Ecruspirit. "Echopelt just ran out crying. I heard nothing." "Thank you, dear," she said, shooing Dirtkit away. A smirk grew on her face. That Echopelt will pay for what he did to Montana!

    Oceanfire was thinking she padded into camp toward Reedstar "i think he feels like he doesn't belong in the Clan."

    OOC: Scratch all that about Sunkit. Eaglepaw is the medicine cat apprentice.


    "Well, he has been acting pretty strange. But I guess you're right. I should probably go cheer him up." Reedstar ran into the forest, hoping she didn't cut off her and Oceanfire's conversation, and then she saw Echopelt. "Whoa, Echopelt! Your paw's bleeding really bad! You should go to Eaglefur." She walked away, hoping Echopelt would follow her.


    Eaglefur saw Reedstar come into his den. "Echopelt has a bad cut on his pad," she said. "I'll take care of it right away. Where's that Echopelt?" "I don't know." Reedstar replied. "I'm hoping he followed me into the clearing, but I'm not sure."


    Foxkit saw Ecruspirit in the nursery. "Hi, Ecruspirit." she babbled. "What did Dirtkit talk to you about?" She hoped Ecruspirit would answer her, although she knew she wouldn't.

    Reedstar left the medicine den, and lept up onto the Highrock. (place where she performs ceremonies.) "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled. She beckoned Hawkpaw up with her tail. Then Redflower came up. "Redflower? Has Hawkpaw learned to hunt and fight properly?" "Yes." Then let us give him his warrior name. Hawkheart!" "Hawkheart! Hawkheart!" Then she motioned for Stonepaw to come up. Also, Sootwhisker padded into the middle of the clearing. "Sootwhisker? Has Stonepaw learned to hunt and fight properly?" "Yes." Then I would like Stonepaw to come with us on a hunting patrol. No. I want Stonepelt!" "Stonepelt! Stonepelt!" "Also, I have another ceremony to perform. Sunkit. Leafkit." They padded into the clearing. "Oceanfire. You will mentor Sunkit. Train her into the best warrior she can be. Stonepelt. You may be young, but pass off all of your skills from Sootwhisker to Leafkit. I trust you will make her into a great warrior. Now! Sunpaw! Leafpaw!" "Sunpaw! Leafpaw! Sunpaw! Leafpaw!" Good, now I have nothing to worry about, except that whole Echopelt thing.

    Echopelt did not follow. "No," he whispered. He covered his paw. Blood and tears covered the grass below. The wound hurt, but it was just a drop in the sea of shame and emotion he felt.


    Ecruspirit went to the ceremony, then she did answer. "Oh, I was just a bit concerned for Echopelt, so I asked Dirtkit to go check on him." Worry clouded her eyes suddenly. "He doesn't seem so good..."

    Welcome, Rustpaw. You are accepted.


    "Oh . . . Okay . . ." Reedstar cautiously said. "Ah . . . he he."


    After the ceremony was over, Eaglefur asked Eagepaw if he could go gather herbs with him.


    "Wow! Warriors! When will be one, Mama?!" Foxkit cheered.

    Oceanfire was looking over the fresh kill pile her red fur blazing
