    Welcome. These streets are what we strays call home, since its all that most of us have ever known. Around this bountiful mass of buildings called New York City, there's plenty of us. I've heard some humans claim that they can't go anywhere without practically tripping over one of our kind. On the streets, alleyways, and parks of this city, anything is possible. I've even seen dogs get adopted right off the street, no questions asked.

    But, we are stronger than those soft and petty housepets. We have the mental and physical strength to overcome any challenge that we face, for hardships are the only companions that many of us will ever know. Of course, that doesn't mean we are all loners. Companions are always a priority by many dogs, but they are few and far between when its as rough as it is out here. Trust, sometimes, is the main thing missing. There are even some packs that form around here. . . but they aren't too friendly.

    Every single dog out on these streets has a story, but its almost never a happy story. What happens out here is none of the humans' or the housepets' business, for we have learned to look down on their lifestyles of luxuries that we have practically been bred to survive without. But who said our lifestyle was easy or full of sunshine and flowers? As I've already stated, anything is liable to happen out here. I've seen deaths, friendships, rivalries, mostly tragedies, and even romance take place in these tired old allies and avenues of New York City.

    In a sense, we are all connected by one common trait that we possess - we are all dogs, just trying to survive out in this dog-eat-dog world. One could call us an army, per say. But now, the true question remains. . . will you join the ranks of our army of lost souls? Will you form a pack and live it up or be the quiet and dangerous loner, perhaps somewhere in between? You decide. . .

    RULES:
    1. No powerplaying/godmodding. In other words, control your character and not somebody else's/you are not invincible, so if you are in a fight, you will have to get hurt in some degree.

    2. I'll be lenient with the descriptions, but don't make us all sick with your posts. This includes romance and fights.

    3. No killing another character without the player's permission.

    4. Be nice! If you have a problem with another player, please take it somewhere else. It's not fun to have to read through someone else's arguments, and it takes away from the role-play itself.

    5. This is an advanced role-play, which means you don't have to use uber fancy posts, but write at least three sentences, please.

    Have Fun!

    Note: You can just jump in, there isn't any form or something like that.

    OOC: Suppose I'll go ahead and post something, just to start it up.
    IC:

    The howls of other canines rang throughout the streets and reverberated intensely down the alleyways, specifically one where a light colored stray lay asleep. The sound had jerked her out of the best sleep she'd had in God knows how long, and it irritated her that someone had the audacity to just howl out whenever they pleased, especially without thinking of others.
    But, Midna reminded herself, these were the strays of New York City. There was hardly and courtesy out here in this dog-eat-dog world, especially none from most humans.

    Midna stood and shook out her pelt, part of it had been flatten from her nap, before poking her head out around the corner. There seemed to be no other dogs about, but one can never be too sure... The light husky mix quickly trotted down the sidewalk to try and find a nearby dumpster, hoping the nearby pizzaria had thrown out something edible. The sidewalk felt damp to her paws surprisingly, apparently it had rained during her sleep, and Midna wondered how she had not woken up due to it. Had she really slep that heavily?

    Eli pushed through the legs of the huge twolegs. His large paws padded down the filthy street, picking up trash as he tried to reach his destination. Jack was busy hunting in the park and it was his job to keep watch. Albeit, he wasn't that threatening, but his needle sharp canines could pierce through the flesh of many dogs. But not without taking damage himself. He knew jack gave him the job to keep him busy while he hunted. While he had a large abundance of food in their territory, hunting had always been a favorite past time of Jacks. He would come back with a pigeon or two, and they would feast in silence, letting the city sounds fill their nonexistent conversation.
    The edge of his territory was always threatened. A pizzeria that many strays frequented. It had recently been taken under Jack's control and he knew it would be a fight to keep it that way. The only reasonable solution to keeping the unwanted out was taking a few useless alleys, to jeep the Pizzeria 'closer to home'. Jack wouldn't allow it, though. He knew he would need more than a scrawny pup to keep that area secure. 'Grow to be my height, then we can take over twice the amount of alleys that we have now.'
    Grumbling under his breath, Eli crouched behind the crates in the back of the alley, keeping a careful watch of the dumpster, in case a dog (or cat) happened to miss their strong scent markings.

  • Holli stood paralized in front of the large human holding a butchers knife. A long rope of juicy sausages hung from her strong bone crushing jaws. A growl escaped the Pitbull's lips as she glared the human in the eye. With the agility of a cheetah she flee's through the mans legs and down the cracked cement. She keeps running, not stopping until she was sure the man was gone. Eventually she slows to a walk, coming to a complete halt. She darts into an ally way and drops her precious catch. Her eyes glint in the dim light that bathed the dark road. She gulps the first part of the meat. Then eats more slowly to savor the delectable taste. Her mouth foams slightly from the run, she seemed rabid, but in fact she was dehidrated.

    Midna || 3 Years || Fae || Husky Mix

    After a couple minutes of uneventful walking, a scent wafted towards Midna's nose, which she took a deep whiff of once it did. It was the pizzeria for sure, she knew so because the chef would always keep the window to the kitchen open whenever he made pizzas. Midna trotted faster now, her belly rumbling in hopes of getting something edible if she couldn't get something warm.

    The light colored husky rounded a corner and finally made it, and she smiled despite her hunger. Midna stopped to sniff for other scents, but even if there were any, she couldn't detect them over the strong scent of welcoming and mouth-watering pizza. She quickly trotted around to the back of the brick building that was the pizzeria, the neon sign flashing monotnously in a language that she didn't understand nor care to attempt comprehending. Humans were so strange.

    Midna finally reached the large green dumpster and glanced around, feeling watched. She couldn't place were the sensation came from, but the husky mix knew better than to let such a warning pass by without a second thought. She turned her back to the dumpster so that nobody could ambush her from behind and her ears laid back, her piercing blue eyes scanning the area.

    "I can tell you're there."

    She barked, still trying to pinpoint where her sensatin of paranoia was radiating from.

    Eli froze. I was quiet! How did she know?. With panicked eyes, he looked for an escape. Finding none, he closed his eyes and hoped jack would come. The stray growling was big and threatening, with the capability of killing him if the time arose. He did the only thing he could do.
    Eli growled, his small form shaking as the low sound rippled through him. He stepped out of his hiding place, his green eyes glinting dangerously at the dog. The Weimeraner mix let out a bark, and snarled when it was higher than he hoped it would be. "You're not supposed to be here," he yipped, his voice high and childlike, "this is Jack's territory, didn't you smell the markings? You've gotta leave! 'Fore I get in trouble!"

    Holli scented the beautiful smell of pizza. Though she had just eaten a hearty meal of sausages, she decided that some pizza wouldn't hurt. She left the allyway and ran down the street to the pizzaria. She lifts her nose and breaths in the scent of cooking cheese and bread. She licks her maw and scratches at the door, hoping to get a morsal. Her brittle pelt lay smooth and sleek against her strong build. Yet, she was still vulnerable with all her senses on the pizza. Her floppy ears listened for the sound of somebody coming to open the door. She sits back on her hind legs, bringing her front legs to her chest in a begging manor.

    Jack walked back from the park, his muscular legs moving quietly along the pavement, the only sound he made was the clicking of his claws against the concrete. He dropped the four fatty pigeons on the ground behind the dumpster he and Eli frequented the most. Looking around, he spotted no sign of Eli. With a snarl, he stalked out of his camp and down to the Pizzeria, knowing he told him to guard the area. His body clenched with fury as he spotted the female begging for food. With a feral snarl, he approached the dam, his eyes ablaze, "it seems as if dogs are getting stupider and stupider. Did you not smell my abundant scent markings? This area is MINE!"
    He looked over at Eli, the small lab mix cowering beneath the other dog, "Eli! i give you one responsibility and you can't even keep that up?" His deep voice frightened the cowering pup to the bone. A whimper escaped his lips, and deep green eyes looked fearfully over at his pseudo father.
    "I-I'm sorry Ja-"
    "Shut up, you're of no use to me right now," He looked at the two other dogs, "You need to leave this area, before I'm tempted to remove you myself."

    Holli kept up the act, ignoring Jack until the human tossed her a scrap of pizza.When he closed the door she turned on him, growling and bearing her large, bone crushing teeth. "I wouldn't prevoke me. I am a dog with one of the most strongest jaws in the world. My teeth the sharpest. I would respect a dog like me." She tilts her head and bristles her fur. Her honey golden eyes glinting dangerously angry. "And yet you wouldn't listen to my warning even if it killed you." She spaces her paws in a defensive way. "You can share your territory for a bad rep. dog like me." She says matter-of-factly.

    Jack snarled viciously, his razor sharp teeth flashing in the dim light, "Don't test me, you mutt. You may have strong jaws but I have speed and muscle. You don't look like you were born on the streets. An army dog, perhaps? A fair fighter. You see, I was a pit fighter. I have no rules. Your jaws against my morals. Seems as if we have a fair fight." he crouched, ready to launch when a strangled cry filled the air.
    "Jack stop!" Eli looked over at his companion, his green eyes filled with fear, "Be smart about this, Jack! You could probably beat her in a fight, but if you attack her what about the other one? I can't handle her, you know I can't. Stand up and be civil! If you die what will happen to me? I'll be sent to the pits! You remember them, don't you?"
    Jack paused, listening to his small companion. Eli wouldn't last a moon in the pits. He was small and sweet, unable to attack another unless the ones he loved were threatened. Pain was no the way to tame him. It would be horrible. Reluctantly, Jack rose to his feet, still growling. His tail rose high as he took a step towards the female, "I want you off of my territory."

    Jack narrowed his eyes, looking over the female, "I don't know. How do I know you're to be trusted."
    Eli squeaked, his wide eyes looking at the other dog, "Please Jack! You need another dog. I'm kind of useless. It would be good for you to have a companion your age. Another fighter would be great!"
    Jack sighed, caving into Eli's request, Those green eyes will be the death of me...
    "Fine. But don't expect me to trust you immediately."

    Holli's nose twitches and she smiles. "I won't let you down. Besides, I'm a military dog, we must treat all creatures with respect...with the exception of our enemies which often includes fire arms. Since you don't have any fire arms then I will be treating you with honor." She lowers her head gratefully and backs away, lifting her head she lets her ears lie flat. She gives her silky fur a lick. "What would you like me to do first?" she questions.

  • Midna || 3 Years || Fae || Husky Mix

    The far had stood there silently and watched the exchange between some other female and the large black brute, who was apparently named Jack. Midna's ear twitched slightly at the end of it all, slightly disappointed that there wasn't anything more exciting happening.

    "Well then. . ."

    Midna murmured awkwardly, unsure as to whether she wanted to try her luck with grabbing some of the pizza scraps and running like a mad dog or to just leave quietly. Fighting was out of the question for her, especially since this male had just recruited another dog into his little pack. The light colored husky blinked her piercing blue eyes as she stood there silently, stealing glances to the dumpster every so often.

    Jack's eyes darted over to the other female. Very pretty, for a mutt. He approached her, his eyes accusing, "You heard the kid. There's two options. run or join. I don't permit trespassers on my land."
    He growled lowly, his muscles taught, ready to strike. Eli shot a worried glance towards his companion. He knew he was in a bad mood, and that he would receive his punishment once he got back to their small den. Sighing, he growled alongside him, his long tail high, but slightly lower than Jack. Looking over at the other female for a moment, he felt his stomach churn. He knew that no matter what the pretty female chose, the army dog would replace his spot at Jacks side. He was, after all, a useless pup.

    Holli shook her head and backed away. She didn't seem to be of use as of now.She left the pizza scrape and went down to the park, settling herself near a rose bush, she began to clean her ruffled fur. The life of a stray was hard. Oh how she longed to be back in the army, fighting at her soldiers side. She whines slightly and rests her head on her paws. She closes her eyes as she falls asleep. A dream comes. She is back in the army, laying in one of the bunkers. Gunfire is heard all around her and explosions burst into the earth feet from her and her owner. Screaming and yelling penetrates her ears. The scent of gun-powder and sweat fill her nose. The commanding voice of Private Teddy at her side. Suddenly they cut off with a choked burble. She whips her head around just in time to see him slump to the ground. A splatter of blood covering his uniform just over his heart. She whimpers and nudges him, trying to wake him. Her team is running, screaming retreat, she doesn't know what to do. She runs. For miles she races, not stopping, the ground a blur beneath her feet. She wakes after that and gets to her feet. She shouldn't be replaying the past! She shakes her head and glances around.

  • Midna || 3 Years || Fae || Husky Mix

    Her own blue eyes locked with Jack's, and Midna breifly considered grabbing a piece of pizza and running. But, as she took a moment to ponder the offer, it wouldn't be as dangerous to come here if she joined Jack and the other two dogs, and she could get some healthy exercise by chasing off other strays. . .

    Midna nodded inwardly to herself and stood up from where she had previously been sitting and dipped her head curtly to Jack in respect before walking over to Eli. The pup was adorable, she would admit, but he was quite small. It made her wonder why such a large brute would need a pup like him, but maybe he just liked pups.

    The great and powerful Jack, having a soft spot for puppies. . .

    The thought of it made her smile inwardly.

    Jack nodded curtly, before turning and howling, calling for the army brat. With a low head and raised tail, he turned around, "Let's get back to camp, I hunted." With those words, he shot off, his long legs and terrifying appearance making it easy for him to weave through the legs of people.
    Eli giggled, looking up at the husky mix, "Jack's a great hunter. He probably's gott'a pigeon! Those are awesome! C'mon!" he turned and bumbled out of the alleyway, his small body weaving carefully through the legs of people. He tactfully avoided the feet aimed for his side as he did so.

    Holli gives a laugh at his howl. "What an Airhead." She says to herself and races through the crowds of people towards the running jack. People jumped out of the way when she ran past. One of the high points of being America's most feared dog. She saw the black figure of the mutt and caught up. Staying a head or two behind him, didn't want him to get mad because she was 'fast.' She keeps up evenly. She wished she could go faster, maybe stretch her legs some more.
