Raincloud was walking into camp "Hello" She said to Redjaw.
-
"Hello." he replied. "Would you like to hunt?"
-
Redjaw's apprentice, Silverpaw, came bounding up to him. "Can I come to, please please please please please!" she begged.
-
"Yes, you may. Follow us to the south and be quiet about it." said Redjaw.
-
Silverpaw opened her mouth to make a sharp reply, but she was silenced by a swish of Redjaw's tail. She looked at her paws and nodded.
-
"Now follow, and look out for twigs." whispered Redjaw.
-
The silver she-cat nodded. She was going to learn how to hunt! Now she was a real apprentice. Silverpaw followed, looking at the earth below her for twigs and old leaves.
-
She nodded and followed, she opened her mouth.
-
Squirrelfur, a ginger cat, padded in and twitched her ears. "Heard there was a hunt going on and I'm starving," she said. "Mind if I join you all?"
-
"I say yes." She whispered.
-
"As do I." whispered Redjaw. "But remember, especially you, apprentice, that you feed the clan first."
-
She sniffed the air.
-
Silverpaw nodded.
-
She crouched down and moved forward.
-
Silverpaw heard a faint rustle in the bushes. She smelled a strong scent of chaffinch. She stalked towards it in the opposite direction. She pounced, killing it.
-
She crept closer and closer, she soon wiggled her haunches and leaped for a rabbit, killing it with a bite.
-
Silverpaw proudly held her prey.
-
"Excellent catch," Squirrelfur praised, casting the apprentice a warm smile of approval. She crouched down, belly fur brushing the grass, and crept forward, eyes glued on a thrush. She sprang, catching the thrush and pinning it before sharply nipping it to the neck. It fell limply to the ground. She sighed, not pleased with the scrawny size.
-
"Nice catch!" Silverpaw's eyes grew wide. "That was cool! I want to catch a thrush too!"
