    Jadeclaw was hunting off on his own, which he hadn't done since his father was killed when he was just an apprentice. He just had to get away. He sighed, putting off catching a mouse just for a moment when he caught a scent he knew; it was Sunsetleaf, and he could even hear her purr from here. He padded around a tree to see her. He had had a crush on her since they were apprentices, and he purred. "Hey, Sunsetleaf," he meowed nervously.

    He nodded. "Yeah, it's me. What's up?" He called, trying to make his voice sound stronger than he was.

    Rippletail choosing Sunnight over me.she thought regretfully.Her face twisted with pain."Oh....just.."being betrayed.she finished in her head."I guess I'll be going to see Sunnight,R.....r....r....r....ipp......ripp...Rippler-"She ran off before finishing the sentence.She approached ht e queen,her face twisted with both pain and betrayal.Sunnight murmured,"Loved Rippletail,right?"Rippletail appeared in front of Sunnight.He glanced at Sunsetleaf."What's she doing here?"he hissed."She is danger!"Sunnight snarled."She is not danger!"Rippletail hissed."Sunnight was chosen over you,Sunsetleaf!Don't you touch her one bit,or I'll shred you!"Sunsetleaf began to cry."Well I don't care!"she sobbed."I hate you and I love Jadeclaw!"A look of hurt spread over Rippletail's face.Sunnight snorted and walked away."Would you be so quick to forget me?"he whispered.She growled."You betray me,that's what you get."He bowed his head."I guess."He blushed.She stepped away from him.He took one step closer."Please,"his voice was hoarse."Please forgive me."She stepped away,her face twisted with horror."No!No-no-"She turned and fled.Rippletail watched her go,hurt and guilt sparkling in his eyes.

    Jadeclaw blinked with shock. He didn't see, but he heard, every bit of that. Part of him had wanted to go to her aid, but knew there was somthing she needed to work out for herself. He blinked at her, mouth hanging open when she came back. "I didn't know you loved me," he mewed quietly, shyly.

    She looked startled, as if she had never said that. "Well, I guess I do," she said shortly.

    Jadeclaw blinked, then purred. "I'm glad. I was afraid you didn't, and I didn't have to courage to tell you that I loved you back."

    Sunsetleaf purred quietly. Rippletail stepped in front of her, eyes blazing. "She's not your mate, shes mine. Sunnight isn't so nice, anyways." Sunsetleaf sighed. "Rippletail..." she murmured. "Jadeclaw...Rippletail...Rippletail...my love...Jadeclaw...above...you...-"She was cut off by an outraged scream of fury from Sunnight. "RIPPLETAIL! HOW-HOW-HOW DARE YOU! HOW YOU EVER BETRAY ME? I DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE SUNSETLEAF! I WANT TO-YOU- I DON'T WANT TO GROW UP! I WANT TO LIVE WITH MY MATE. I DON'T WANT LIFE! I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE!I DON'T WANT THIS LIFEEEEEEE!" Rippletail blinked once. He smiled and leaned against the queen, smashing her to the ground. He suddenly leapt at her, claws unsheathed. He rolled her head-over-heels, she was fat because of her kits. Her legs dangled limply. He dragged her to a gorge, snuck into WindClan and dangled her over the gorge. Sunsetleaf followed, practically frozen, except for walking. He dropped her, and she fell, fell....fell... Rippletail forced his way down, landing lightly. He walked over to her, and sunk his teeth into her neck and blood poured out. He sunk his claws into her belly, causing her to shriek in pain. Her body twitched once, and fell still. She gasped her past breath, then gazed, unseeing, at her former mate. Her words were, "I love you, but don't...let..me..die..my...belly...my body...it hurts all over...my belly cut open...please kill me...take me...." Her words ended. Her body twitched once, and fell still. Her eyes, unseeing, dull, gazed up at Rippletail.


    Sunnight.....was dead.


    Sunsetleaf stood rigid with horror, gazing at the blood pooled around the dead queen. Rippletail turned to look t her, triumph in his eyes. Sunsetleaf whispered, "You...killed...her..?"
