  • Jeez, she knows a lot about medicine, the dark silver fox thought to himself, before padding away to search. Before he wandered off he sent the warning to the two vixens once again, "Watch your step, and stay safe. We're close to the hunter's den!" With those words, he bounded away, and scanned the area for any signs of comfrey or chervil. He was sure he'd be able to find them if he looked hard enough. After wandering for a bit of ways, he scented something familiar.

The scent was sickly sweet, reeking of many blossoms that overwhelmed the animal's natural smell. It was a vixen, that much he knew. But, why did she smell so familiar? The scent tugged his heartstrings achingly. He knew he should remember it, but he couldn't quite place a name on it. The scent wasn't fresh, as it was fading, but he felt the need to follow it.

I've got my things packed, my favorite pillow
Got my sleeping bag, climb out the window
All the pictures and pain, I've left behind
All the freedom and fame, I've gotta find
And I wonder, how long it will take them
    To notice that I'm gone
And I wonder, how far it'll take me
To run away, it don't make any sense to me
Run away, this life makes no sense to me

I was just trying to be myself, have it your way, I'll meet you in hell

I'll never be your perfect girl, I've got to run away

Esmeralda looked around for the herbs, she couldn't find any lavender so she went near a dried place searching for juniper berries instead, The only thanks I can give my family is my knowledge of herbs she thought bitterly. Looking around she found the purple berries and started to pick them.

  • (How adorable <3 I love it, sweetie :3)

The young male fox was distracted from his search and he placed his nose on the soft earth, which was still a little muddy from the recent storm, and he followed the scent as far as he could. When the trail seemed to fade off, Kanelle looked up, not knowing where he was. He searched the clearing, only to find himself completely alone, except for a single crow that rested upon a branch nearby.

Ugh, crows always think they're better than any other creature in the forest.

It's eyes seemed to be mocking him, as they penetrated him, cold and heartless. Kanelle growled low in his throat. There was something a bit off about that crow. He backed up a few steps, and felt something that was solid and somewhat frigid to the touch. Shocked, the fox whipped around and jumped back away from the tree. What's this?

He had seen these before, he realized as he took a closer look. It was a fox trap, and an old, used one that was never reset, by the looks of it. It was funny how the trail left off right there. He bent down cautiously to sniff the trap, curious as to if the vixen he scented earlier had gotten caught in it, but instead a different scent filled him, this one also oddly familiar to him.

There was a small clump of fur still stuck in the clamped teeth of the trap, and Kanelle reached over, pawing and using his teeth gently to remove it. As he smelled it a couple times more, the thought struck him.

This is where my father was killed.

And that scent, that vixen's scent, was of his mother's. It was his mother who had abandoned him and his sister not too long after they were born, leaving them orphans. He growled. He would never forgive her for what she did. But wait, did this mean she had returned to the forest recently? She most likely was paying her respects to her dead mate.

    She's alive...

When Esmeralda was done picking the berries she left them, looking for some thyme and poppy seeds.

  • Kanelle snorted and shook his head. Sure, it was an interesting find, but he didn't care. To him, as far as he was concerned, he didn't have any parents. He had Kazuni and the society, and that's all he ever needed.

    Whatever.

Turning on his heel, the fox trotted away, and began to sprint. He figured that since his father was killed by the hunter, he had just gone farther north. So, to go home, he needed to continue south. He soon came in sight of Esmeralda, and felt more reassured, shaking the thoughts from his mind. He would pretend he never discovered anything about his family, and continue his life merrily.

    Oh, is that comfrey?

The silver fox grinned and padded over to the plant, uprooting it from the soft soil. He brought it back to Esmeralda, and dipped his head in respect for his healer. "Is this what I was looking for?"

Esmeralda looks at the plants and nodded pointing her nose towards the juniper berries, "Put them over there," she replied, and started to search again for poppy seeds and thyme.

  • Kanelle nodded, and dropped the herbs in the pile. It was going to be tough to carry everything back to the camp, so he searched for a large leaf to bundle them up in, like he had seen Kazuni do many times before. Esmeralda seemed to know what she was doing, and that cheered the dark furred fox slightly. They needed a good healer, and he was glad she had stepped up to take the position.

Esmeralda found some poppy seeds, but one glance at the flowers above it she realized that the poppy seeds were mixed with foxglove seeds, she let out a muffled cry as she stared at the poppy seeds, and foxglove seeds as if in a trance.

  • Kanelle pricked his ears, and bounded over to Esmeralda's side, a concerned look in his eyes. Prodding the vixen with his nose, the silver fox cocked his head to the side as to question why she cried out. "Are you okay, Esmeralda?"

She nodded, and kept staring at the seeds, then at the flowers, "I-I couldn't find poppy seeds, lets look for thyme instead," she stuttered.

  • Kanelle growled slightly, as if to warn her not to lie to him. "Something's up, Esmeralda..." he stepped forward to lick her ear comfortingly, "But, I can't help unless you tell me what it is."

  • Jay's eyes flashed in apology, and he flicked his tail and murmured,"No, you actually very-", he stopped himself before he could say the last word, then stared at her,"Well, how about a run through the forest?"

  • A small twig cracked beneath the weight of the small Arctic fox as she trekked through the woods. She had just caught herself a mouse less than half an hour ago, so she was not hungry. The female fox was, however, quite lonesome. She had met one male somewhere so far, but their encounter was only brief. Sure, foxes were not very social animals, but they were not entirely solitary either. In fact, some could argue that foxes are in the middle of the two factions.

The female fox sighed as she sat down at looked at a set of three small puddles in the mud. She placed a single claw on the water of one puddle and began to swirl it around like a witch would do to a cauldron with a large spoon. She smiled a little as she did so as if the puddle was telling her a joke. Her tail instinctively curled around the side of her body in an elegant manner that did not quite match the personality of the fox. Then again, the fox almost had two different faces; the tail and her fur in general matched one in the extreme but was entirely out-of-place in the other. Nevertheless, it was elegant and striking.

When the puddle no longer amused the vixen, she began to walk. The vixen, named Isis after the inspired markings around her eyes, stood up and walked forward. She carelessly walked through the puddles. Mud and water splattered up her legs, but she did not slow down or hardly care. She was in no way afraid to get dirty. The fox then walked as she had originally done until she would be distracted again.

  • Talon pricked his ears, finishing off a mouse and then eating it, and then he hurried himself in his crawling ability, lowering himself low and crawling really fast across the meadow, then reach the tree line and sighed with relief, padding deeper into the forest, swishing his golden tail as he did so.

  • OOC: No time for template :3 I'm watching H2o: just add water :3

IC: "The poppy seeds are mixed with foxglove seeds!" she snapped at Kanelle, then started padding away to look for some thyme.

  • Kanelle, unsure of what that meant, furrowed his face in confusion, "But can't you tell the difference between the two? So we could just separate them, right?" He looked down at the pile, and turned back to Esmeralda, "What does foxglove do anyhow?"

(Sorry, one i have no muse today, and two, I'm not supposed to be on my laptop. My mom and I had a HORRID fight the other day and she took just about everything... sorry guys...)

Kazuni smiled at Jay, her long, fluffy gray tail swishing behind her eagerly. "Would you like to go hunting with me, Jay?" The young vixen found herself staring into the other fox's eyes and she looked away at the trees. "Or perhaps we could just go play by the river!" The haunting memory of the thunderstorm struck her as the lightning had struck the fallen tree, but she quickly shook them out of her mind. She would just have to go to another spot on the riverbank to play.

  • Kazuni's heart leapt with joy. She completely had forgotten why she was so upset before. Her feet grew wings as she raced after her new friend and she chased the male fox to the river bank. Forest debris, twigs, and leaves crunched beneath her thundering pawsteps, and she let out a small howl, feeling the wind and freedom blow through her fur relentlessly. Her dark brown eyes flashed with something unrecognizable, perhaps pride?

She bounded through the forest, leaping gracefully over rocks and branches as if they were nothing, catching up to Jay almost instantly. As the riverbank came into view she grinned, her heartbeat pounding within her chest, her skin tingling, and her fur on end. The grey cross fox looked up at the sky, admiring the fluffy white clouds above, and she sat down along the sandy coast, splashing some water at Jay, giggling playfully.

  • Elita walked through the bushes. She had left Kanelle and Esmeralda just a few seconds ago. Her eyes were down as she walked, making more noise than she'd ever had in her whole life. Finally, she stopped at a small clearing, laying down. Her head went down to her paws as she began thinking. Thinking of what she left coming here, and thinking of what she will do, being here. She could be looking for me, she thought. But...Stop it. This is a new life, right? Right. So go on back to where you left. With a huff and a shake of her head, Elita stood, starting the trek back to where she was. All that walking for nothing...dumb brain.

  • An Arctic fox awoke near a green pine tree. She stood and shook her pelt dry. Either rain or dew had drenched her in her sleep. Nevertheless, she felt uncomfortable. She yawned and stretched her somewhat short legs before she began to walk away from her spot.

The fox smelled a trail from another fox. Curious, the Arctic fox followed it. She then saw the same fox with the same scent doubling back on the trail. The Arctic fox froze. "Oh, hi," she chuckled.
