Mudtail turned back to her work, a pulsing pounding in her heart. She missed the times when they were kits. All was simple, with no tom-friends or she-cat-friends. They were so young...and most young kits knew nothing of pain...but she did. The moment she was born she did. That was when her parents died. Her father died protecting the nursery from the badger attack while she was being born. She was told her mother died of losing too much blood while giving birth. She believed it all her life. Until now. Now she realized that she had died of a broken heart...she had lost the will to live, now that her mate had died. The other nursery queens must've known; they had fallen in love, after all. Why didn't they tell her? Did they think she wouldn't understand at the time? She wouldn't have. Now she wondered if it was possible that they thought they would be breaking her heart even more with the truth. Well, if that was true, they were right.

Breezewhispers woke fully, his tail shivered, he thought of Glimmercloud. Were they really meant to be together? Was Mudtail thinking the same thing? Did he really have feelings for Glimmercloud? And the most important question; did he love Mudtail? The questions rushed through his mind, making it hurt more and more, but he didn't have time to go to the medicine cat's den, nor to care about it. He stared at the sky, hoping he would have better luck. Then a thought came to him. Should he tell his true feelings to Glimmercloud, and Mudtail?
-
Glimmercloud stomped back to camp, muttering nonsense as she did so, as if the incoming zephyr would pity her. She had to hurry before horrible threats came out to lurk in the nighttime shadows; she didn't want to ruin her perfect pelt with a scar. She laughed hollowly as she imagined Mudtail's scar on her chest.
Mudtail, named after her tail that was somewhat darker than her pelt, absentmindedly looked down to the scar on her chest. As an apprentice, she had fought off a badger by herself. She shivered as she remember that cold, leaf-bare afternoon. She had seen no other cats, except for herself. She had to fight alone, and Mudtail knew that a single scar on her chest and some other wounds that had healed were a small price to pay; she could've been damaged more seriously.
She stood up and exited the area, limping. She barged into the medicine den and picked out a few herbs. There's some marigold for infection; cobwebs, of course, to stop the bleeding; I could take a few poppy seeds; and some soaked moss could clean the wounds.
She padded slowly back to the warriors' area out in the open, and gave half of her pile to Breezewhispers. "There's a lineup for the medicine cats, so you might want to use these. First wash the wound with the moss, then chew the marigold into a poultice and apply it to the wound, and finally put a patch of cobwebs on. You can have a few poppy seeds as well, but not too many, because it's good to know how much you're healing." She then limped off to her own nest and listened to her instructions.
She had learned some medicine skills as an apprentice, and they had came in handy many times. -
"Thanks." He muttered. Breezewhispers did as told, and he looked at Mudtail. "Mudtail- I- I-..." He just didn't know what to say. He should have rehearsed this! "I- I really like you, maybe more than old kit friends." He stammered. "I'm just not sure about this." He wrapped his tail uncomfortably around his body, still crouched in his nest.
-
Glimmercloud entered the scoop in the moorland known as the WindClan camp. She followed her worst enemy's and former beloved's scents until she saw them lying in the warriors' area. She hid in a gorse bush, disguising her scent, and watched.
"Not sure about what?" Mudtail asked, keeping the curiosity out of her voice. "I think about us as more than what we used to be, too. We're clanmates as warriors now." And with that, she fell asleep.
"Travel to the place where the sun sets and dies.
Retrieve the shine that keeps us together.
Take it to the place where we'd meet after good-byes.
Light will prevail, and lives will be free
From the darkness that is here now.
Mudtail stirred in her sleep.(I'm thinking they could have a crush on each other now, but not admit it until the journey that the prophecy says will happen. When they admit it, by that time, it'll be more like love, though.)
-
(Yeah, sure, I mean, your plot... Breezewhisperes should also get the prophecy, to make things more plotty.)
Breezewhispers turned away, his back facing Mudtail. Again, the image of them as kits came again, but this time, something rushed through his mind;
Travel to the place where the sun sets and dies.
Retrieve the shine that keeps us together.
Take it to the place where we'd meet after good-byes.
Light will prevail, and lives will be free
From the darkness that is here now.The voice faded, and his dream begun. He saw, again, Mudkit, and himself. tumbling over each other, and Glimmerkit sat there, watching. Not bothered to get her paws dirty...
-
ooc: Okay, but Breezewhispers would have to have someone who he was close to be dead, like Mudtail's parents and littermates are, in order for it to make sense.
Mudtail awoke the next morning. It seemed that only a few cats were up. Her gaze drifted to the sky. It was white, but there were no clouds. The wind that blew was cold, and it chilled her. She felt stiff, so she began to wash herself. Then she gathered more supplies for Breezewhispers and her, divided the pile in half, and began to apply her share to her wounds from the previous day.
Glimmercloud awoke from where she was sleeping. Usually she would sleep in, but for some odd and unknown reason, she woke up early that dawn. She stood up and tiptoed over to Breezewhispers. "Good morning, sweetie." She rasped her tongue on his forehead multiple times, as if she was cleaning it.
Mudtail rolled her eyes and looked away. She didn't feel that sharp pain in her heart anymore, Maybe it was because she realized that perhaps Breezewhispers and Glimmercloud were breaking up. Finally.
-
Breeewhisperes woke up to a tongue on his head. He growled, and shook. He realized it was Glimmercloud. Good. Again, he growled threateningly. "Get away from me, traitor." He hissed, almost whispering. He turned his back towards Glimmercloud, staring at the wall. He didn't want Glimmercloud. He didn't need Glimmercloud. He just needed himself to trust.
OOC: His mother.
-
Glimmercloud felt tears form in her eyes. "I'm not a traitor!" she whispered as she ran away, hurt.
Mudtail had mixed emotions. She felt relieved and happy that her crush and his former she-cat-friend had just broken up, yet she felt her heart throb. She knew how it felt to have someone reject you. Breezewhispers didn't really reject Mudtail, he just chose someone else. Mudtail didn't flirt, so being nice was the only way she could try to get on his good side.
-
Breeewhispers felt no feelings for Glimmercloud anymore. She stood there while he was almost eaten by a badger, and Mudtail had to save him. He still stared at the wall, thoughts formed in his mind. Mostly about the odd words in his dream... Where the sun sets and dies.. Must be the sun-drown place... The rest he had no idea. He sighed, and fell into deep sleep.
-
Mudtail didn't have much of an idea what the words of her dream meant. She guessed they were some sort of prophecy. It echoed in her head, and rang in her ears.
I have to do something. I have to find the place where the sun sets and dies...the Sun-Drown Place! Mudtail thought, determined. I have to get going!
She abruptly stood up and shook out her pelt. Her paws were soon moving, and she was on her way to her destination, exiting the camp. -
"Mudtail!" Breezewhispers called, he had just gotten up to clean his wounds, thanking StarClan for the herbs. He left the herbs, and raced to Mudtail. "Where are you going?" He asked. He shook moss from his pelt, and stared at her. "Why in a hurry?"
-
Mudtail turned and padded over to Breezewhispers. What was she going to say? She would sound stupid to him! He wouldn't understand. "...Hunting." There was uneasiness in her voice.
Should she go tell the medicine cat about this? It was definitely strange. She had a feeling she should keep it to herself. -
"Can I come with you, 'cause, uh, I have to.. go.. on... A.. Border patrol by myself?" He mewed, making up an excuse to go to sun-drown-place. He flicked his tail uncomfortably, and looked somewhere else.
-
Mudtail sensed his uncomfort. She could tell by the way he flicked his tail, and by the way he looked away. Then again, she couldn't even look Breezewhispers in the eyes fully when they had a conversation. It somehow felt unnatural to her.
"...Okay," she mewed. She figured she could ditch him sometime later. She then quickly padded out of the camp, not bothering to check if he was following. -
"Yes..." He whispered. Breezewhispers left the direction of the border, heading for the mountains, just to be sure where sun-drown-place was. He looked around at first, then jumped behind a tree, away from Mudtail, sure to make no sound. He followed a path to the mountains, and stepped in ThunderClan's territory.
-
ooc: Sry; I was on vacation.
ic: The Sun-Drown place...I'm pretty sure I have to go through the mountains to get there,Mudtail thought. She glanced around and thought she saw a flash of cream. Breezewhispers! He was going into ThunderClan territory! Wasn't he supposed to be out hunting?
"Where are you going?" Mudtail challenged as she bolted after him. "You're hunting in ThunderClan territory?" -
"No! I wouldn't! I- I'll tell you the truth. I was given this weird prophecy, AND I HAVE TO GO TO THE MOUNTAINS!" He confessed. The cream tabby waited for his punishment from StarClan, and Breezewhispers shuddered.
-
Mudtail nodded slowly. She tried to seem calm but was startled. He received the prophecy too? "Relax. I-I'll come with you. I have to." Mudtail just didn't want to say that she was given the same prophecy, but she liked being different from almost everyone else. She hoped that Breezewhispers took her hint, although she noticed that toms didn't really understand hints too well.
-
"Y-you mean.. You had it too? The strange prophecy?" Breezewhispers asked, feeling really stupid for asking that question. His whiskers twitched, still curious of the brown she-cat's answer.
