  • Wintersong woke up in her cozy nest. In the next nest over, Midnightclaw was stretching. He was barely visible in the gloom.

"Morning," Wintersong purred happily. Midnightclaw grunted and looked closely at her.

Wintersong had crushed over Midnightclaw for a while. She knew it would be hard to ever tell him her true feelings. What she didn't know, though, was that the black tom had strong feelings for her, too.

  • Emberstar pushed aside the lichen as she exited her den. She hopped onto a low branch of the tree and looked over her clan's camp with pride. It had not been standing a year ago and now it had an essence of power that it gave off. She smiled.

  • Emberstar jumped down from the branch and entered into her den once again. She sat down and thought about Starclan's message. They had said that she would bring the dawn of a new clan and she had but the hadn't spoken to her at all since then.

  • Wintersong followed Emberstar with her eyes. She was just curious. Midnightclaw, however, watched Wintersong with narrowed eyes.

  • Emberstar shrugged, tired of thinking of such complicated things. Starclan was very complicated in their messages. She fixed her nest and while she did this, her mind wandered to trivial things, like if she will find a mate in a tom someday.

  • Midnightclaw started as Wintersong turned her head to him. She looked down shyly. He turned with wide eyes and padded cautiously into the den.

  • Emberstar turned around when she heard a cat come through the lichen at the entrance. "Oh, hello Midnightclaw, did you need something?" she asked politely.

  • Emberstar smiled at him. "Well, the freshkill pile is quite low. Would you like to go hunting? If not with me, then Wintersong," she answered.

  • Midnightclaw's eyes widened. "W-wintersong?" he stuttered. "Uh... well..."

Wintersong padded into the den. "Is there something going on in here?"

  • Emberstar smiled, amused. "Nothing, I had just suggested that you two go hunting. The freshkill is really low right now," she repeated.

  • Emberstar blinked unknowingly. "Would that be a problem?" she asked, not in at threatening or commanding way though.

  • Midnightclaw glared over at Wintersong, daring her to say something-anything. He sure wasn't going to admit that it wasn't fine! He would die of embarrassment if he hunted with HER!

In Wintersong's head, the only thought was: Midnightclaw and me, out hunting... but I can't say it!

  • Emberstar smiled, not hearing an arguement. "Great! Thank you guys," she said, dismissing them politely.
