The grinning, goofy dog racing over the rolling hills wasn’t running for any particular reason, other than the fact that he simply enjoyed it. Attempting to turn around while running full tilt, Riley’s paws tangled beneath him and the young dog’s face briefly met the ground. A moment later, the yellow mutt was on his feet again, happily pouncing on a beetle in the grass.
He paused, standing alertly as he caught the scent of felines. His attention now locked on this new discovery, the eighty pound dog trotted forward, pausing every so often when he was sidetracked by a new odor. As he snuffled at the entrance of a rabbit hole, the scent of cat suddenly grew stronger and Riley pulled his dusty snout from the hole, sneezing loudly and violently before grinning merrily at the approaching cat. Maybe these guys would be nice and give him a place to stay?
