Vol made her flame die down. She felt pity for the cat seconds from death. she spoke a single word that she learned from her tibe days. "Neamh" which meant, retreat. As the words left her jaws, the flames on the cat died. Vol turned and stood next to Trenchstar. "thankyou for coming" she said. "you might want to tell your kin to back off, i can just as easily put fire on all of them as take it away."

"yeah. bye." said Vol. She trotted past him without another word. As she passed the Earth Tribe cats, she snarled, and trew a few sparks at them. They retreted a few steps. Not due to fear, but due to the fact Vol was in a hurry to get to Fire Tribe, she started sprinting to the volcano.

Vol thought that this time, Trenchstar would come after her, but still, he left. She didnt realise she was leaving a trail of fire behind her until she saw the smoke. She receded the flames, and tried to cal down. But she only succeeded when she was right at the base of her old home, the volcano. The elemental parts of her were buzzing. Vol hadnt felt like this in forever. She sprinted up the steep sloped, her hard pads gripping to the rot rock. Her excitement made her flare up, so any cat looking at her from a distance would see a fireball zooming up the mountain. When she reached the top, she could hardly believe what she saw. It was so impossible, so incredible. And it what right there infront of her eyes.

Before Vol could say a word, a kit stared at vol with huge, excited amber eyes and shouted "DENHAR ARKEN TEKH LAN GAR!" which Vol knew to mean, "the last hope has arrived!" All at once, cats turned and started cheering. But what made Vol the happiest, was seeing Ash-Carried-On-The-Wind sprinting towards her, Lava-That-Singes-Plant tottering behind him. Seeing her mate and daughter, it was like she never left. She ran towards Ash, and pressed into his fur, before licking Lava frantically. But even the joy of seeing her family couldnt make her forget about the fact that The water tribe was in her home, and there were cats with the palest grey fur running around. They were steaming. I looked at Ash in question. He looked into her eyes and meowed, "Fire Tribe and Water Tribe are gone. We are Steam Tribe."

Vol looked at Ash. "Demons came. They were like giant shadows. Half the tribe was wiped out. They just sped through the entire land, sweeping away everything in its path. The same thing happened with the water tribe, and the earth and air tribes. We have now joined. Earth and Air tribe are no friend to us, as, by he looks of your paws, you have already seen. So now, we are steam tribe. Those kits you see, the grey steaming ones? They are half tribe." meowed Ash. Vol understood. Looking around, the two other mages that were here when she left had gone, and it seemed that none of the fire tribe had a mate from the same tribe. A half clan cat cannot be a mage. Its one of the few rules the tribes had. As if he heard her thoughts, Ash said "The half clan cats are safer than the rest of us. A few days ago, the tribe was seperated from their mates and paired with a water tribe. There were only a few of us with mates left. I refused. The steam tribe cats have boiling stam around them, only cats they trust can touch them. The shadows cannot touch them"

Vol had been introduced to everyone in the tribe, and she was determined to make up for what happened. She was going with the patrol to the far border. When she arrived, she pushed through the dry bracken, only to come face to face with a face she thought shed never see again; trenchstar.

"Trenchstar, what are you doing here? I thought you went back to your clan? and this isnt Hight Tribe land, i havent and wasnt intending on crossing the border." vol said calmly

"trenchstar, i sense its you. And perhaps, when the shadows came, some of the tribe fled onto the land temporarily perhaps?"

vol realised that the other tribe didnt know about the shadows. it wasnt her place to say, so she meowed quietly to Trenchstar, "meet me on Mount Rushwater at midnight. Noone should follow us because all mages go to there tonight." and she sprinted into the underbrush.
