  • Enola was a pretty fox, She had a molten grey pelt, with black flecks in it and a red underbelly, like most grey foxes. Her tail was odd though, she had a white line going down the centre of her back, all the way to her tail, where it expanded and filled in the whole end of her tail. It was different, and her family used to make fun of her always saying she would be alone, no friends, no mate, no family. They abandoned her but she always held on to the hope she would make friends. That is what brought her here. She sat on the moorland grass, enjoying the sunshine, and the birds singing. She had been kicked out of a nearby forest by a large band of cats. She had no idea why, she was only passing through. She sat on the moor, looking off into the distance. She loved the way she could see far into the distance, and how there was nothing blocking her view of the blue sky above her. She sighed in contentment, There was only one thing missing from this picture, there were no other foxes. None. No mate, no friends, no family. Just as her siblings had said.

  • A grey fox stalked softly in the grass. He was weird. He had red spots. His family always said:"REDIE REDIE!YOUR A RED FOOX!"

  • Enola's ear twitched. She thought she had heard something behind her. She stood, and turned, a look of curiosity on her face. "Hello?" She barked, wondering if she was being silly, If there was actually someone there. 'Probably not' She thought to herself sadly, 'Why would anyone approach me?'

  • "Uh hi."He said back."Is this your territory??I was just looking for a spot to rest in the forest & the cats drove me out,so I was thinking to rest here."He said.

  • She noticed his red spots. They were different like her! She smiled Sweetly, "No this isn't my territory, and your welcome to rest here! The cats in the forest chased you off? Same here! I was just travelling through, I wasn't even going to stop! All well, Cats must be hair brained." She woofed her voice confused, clouds over her face, But when she was done talking the clouds broke, and she smiled once again. She was happy that she wasn't the only person that was different 'Don't think that!' She scolded herself, 'that's rude, and mean!' . She motioned with her tail to say that he was welcome to sit next to her.

  • She looked at him. And smiled. Her tail twitched. "I'm Enola. What, may I ask, is your name?" She said politely. She was glad to meet somebody that was different, like her. She hated her family for being so 'perfect', but she was nicer, and sweeter than all of those brutes put together. She swiped the dark thoughts away from her mind with a flick of her white tail.

  • "Redie?" she asked wonderingly, "do you mind being called that?" She knew that some foxes got angry when others said certain things to them. She was sort of like this, when people called her Whitend, or whitey it irritated her. She was lucky, though, that she was normally a loner, and had very few chances for those foxes to make fun of her.

  • "I've grown used to it.It only bugs me when my siblings teased me.They used to call me Redie the red fox."He said.

  • She looked at him. "That's cruel! But I know what you mean. My family wasn't the ... nicest to me either." That was an understatement. They called her snow. And Arctic. And they had named her Enola, witch meant alone. They had practically stapled a sign to her head that said; TEASE ME, I'M DIFFERENT!! She swished her white tail, thinking of all the trouble it has caused her. "My family never liked me, because of my silly white tail. They cast me out when I was barley able to hunt." She looked at her slender paws, then looked at Arongle knowingly.

  • He nodded."I know how you feel.My family gave me the paw as soon as I was 3 months old."He said."They hate me cuz my red spots.

  • Enola nodded slowly, then shook her head sadly. "I don't understand why our families, and other foxes for that matter, treat us differently. We are foxes, just like them, so why would they treat another fox like that? They can be so cruel." She looked at her slender paws, and studied them intently. She thought of reasons why they would do this when she thought she heard something. She flicked her ears, dismissing the faint sound as nonexistent.
