Troutpaw gazed down into a pool of water, wondering if he would ever have love in his life. A leaf twinkled down into the pool. Splashes of water spread out. "Anyone......." He sighed.

Shatteringpaw had wandered out of camp, she didn't even care, she wandered out of the camp all the time. She heard a cat sigh and walked over to the area where she heard it from.

"S... Shatteringpaw?" Troutpaw meowed. "Is it you?" He looked down, embarrassd that the she-cat had hear him.

"Yeah", she said with a confused look, "what are you doing out here?"

"I.... I.... Ur... I was looking for.... Umm.... I was hunting," he lied. "I couldn't sleep." Troutpaw felt bad about lying, but it was embarrasing enough for saying that he was looking for a she-cat.

"hi!" mistypaw said popping up from under the water and pulled her fish from out of the river onto the shore

Shatteringpaw nodded, "that seems to happen to me a lot lately"

"what does?" mistypaw asked

"Not being able to sleep" she meowed.

Troutpaw scratched his hind leg, careful not to anger th she cats. "Uh.... What's going lately?" The silver tom asked.

"I think it's that time of year" mistypaw remarked "and nothing really" she shugged

Troutpaw looked at the sky with jealous eyes, wondering if either Mistypaw or Shatteringpaw had some one to love.

Shatteringpaw sighed, "this time of the year isn't as great for some of us" she meowed.

"I know..." mistypaw said sadly "my sister's kits died,my older sister, raincloud"

a young apprentice on the other side of the river saw them and jumped."oh.h-h-hello."she called.

"they were sooooo cute, cloudykit was my favorite....."

"Hello!" Troutpaw greeted, not sure if he was saying the right thing. His cheeks burned as he said that.

"hiow's it going over there?"she called

Troutpaw didn't know how to respond to that. He just wanted to have a she cat to love.
