Crystalpaw in need of a mentor

    Crystalpaw nodded excitedly, then stopped, realizing that she'd never tasted bird eggs before. "Um...how do we get the eggs down?" she asked Iceheart.

    "You climb. Here watch me." She put her front paws on the tree, and hauled herself up. Then she started to climb quickly until she got to the branch that held the nest. She balanced on it and carefully took an egg between her jaws. She slowly climbed back down and placed the egg on the floor. "Now you try. But be sure not to drop it or it will break." She meowed.

    Crystalpaw, eager to try, bounded up the tree as fast as possible. She snatched an egg so hard that she almost broke it. Then Crystalaw slid down halfway and leaped off, making small cracks in the eggshell. She placed it on the ground. "There, didn't I do good?" Crystalpaw meowed, puffing out her chest.

    Iceheart stared at the egg. "well....you didn't drop it, and that's good. Please just try to be slower." Said Iceheart as she climbed the tree and grabbed the last egg.

    "Oh...okay. Sorry." Crystalpaw sweeped up an egg. "Do we get to eat them?"
    Inwardly, she was thinking, Please don't say it's for the queens and elders and kits. Please don't say it's for the queens and elsers and kits. Please don't say it's for the queens and elders and kits.

    "Yes, raw eggs are not healthy for queens and elders and kits. So all the warriors can have them. Usually they are given to the ones who find them." She meowed.

    Crystalpaw ran back to camp as fast as she could, and sat down in the middle. "Can I eat one now?"

    "I suppose", Iceheat said as she put an egg in front of Crystalpaw. "But, do you even know how?'' She asked.

    "Well..partly. You bite the top off carefully, so you can eat the inside." Iceheart sat down and carefully bit the top of the egg.

    Crystalpaw mimicked Iceheart's movements, pretending to know how to eat it already. She didn't want to seem stupid to her mentor.

    Crystalpaw was a bit hesitant. She hadn't eaten her egg yet. Crystalpaw showed the inside of the egg to Iceheart. "Uh...what's that yellow thing? Can I eat it?"

    "Anything on the inside of the shell you can eat. The yellow thing is where the bird would have been." Said Iceheart. "Just don't eat the shell."

    Crystalpaw happily slurped the egg down and smiled. "It's delicious!" she meowed happily.

    "They are very good, but very rare.", said Iceheart as she bent over to lick her tail.

    Crystalpaw nodded. She had an important lesson learned about bird eggs. "Iceheart?" she asked. "What are we going to do now? I mean, it's not totally dark yet. Should we go training? Or are we doing something else?" Crystalpaw let out a breath.

    "Well..It's too close to dark to go hunting or training. I guess we could go on a quick patrol by ourselves. No need for other cats, the borders have been very peacful lately." She meowed, standing up to strech.
