Leafeye padded back and forth through camp. Today she would start training her very own apprentice for the first time and she wanted to get going as soon as possible.

Patchpaw woke with a start. Today was her first training session! She jumped up and quickly padded outside. When she saw Leafeye, she hurried up to her.
-
"Hi there Patchpaw, did you sleep well?" she said to her young apprentice. "I was thinking that we should go down to the river and try out some technics for catching fish. The ice has melted and the fish are slow after leafbare".
-
Patchpaw was almost jumping up and down in excitement. "Sure!" She meowed.
-
Leafeye purred in amusement and padded off in the direction of the river. "Come along then".
-
"Yes, Leafeye," Patchpaw mewed. A light ran had started. The drops settled in her thick calico fur.
-
As they reached the river Leafeye positioned her on a rock at the edge of the river. "You have to really quiet and patient. You can either try and catch the fish with your claws directly in the water, or you can try to throw it up in the air and then catch it. Either way you have to very quick". She got her eyes on a fat juicy fish swimming by and she crouched on the rock, ready to pounce. As soon as she was certain that she would reach it she pounced with one, strong movement and landed on the fish with her claws unsheathed. She quickly bent down and grabbed the struggling fish with her teeth and pulled it out of the water. "Like that." she purred contently, happy that she had been able to catch one on her first try in front of her apprentice.
-
After watching, Patchpaw positioned herself at the edge of the river and waited. After a few minutes a slow, small fish swam by. Patchpaw scooped it up, but it landed back in the water.
-
"Nice try, keep going" she meowed and nodded reassuringly towards Patchpaw. "The bigger fish are easier to catch, but you have to be stronger".
-
Patchpaw nodded and sat still again. This time when the fish swam by, she swiped at it and caught it in her mouth. After killing it, she turned to Leafeye. "I did it! I did it!"
-
"Great work, Patchpaw! That was very good! Lets try and catch one more each and then we can head back" she meowed and purred proudly at her apprentice. "She is a quick learner" she thought to herself as she positioned herself to catch another fish herself.
-
"Okay," Patchpaw mewed happily. She positioned herself a little farther downstream from Leafeye and sat down.
-
Leafeye suddenly spotted a fish swimming strangely, on its side only using on of its fins. "Quick, Patchpaw. Take this one, it's injured!" she whispered and nodded towards the fish.
-
Patchpaw quickly scooped it up and killed it.
-
"Very good" she purred proudly. She then turned back towards the river and caught one more fish herself. She placed it next to the first one and meowed "Okay that will be enough for today's session, lets head back". She picked up both of the fish and started carrying them back towards camp.
-
Patchpaw picked up the other two fish and followed her mentor.
-
As they reached the camp Leafeye placed her fish in the freshkill pile before turning to Patchpaw. "You did good today, take those fish to the elders before you take something for yourself to eat. Meet me here tomorrow at dawn and I will show you around our territory so you are certain of where the borders lie" she meowed before heading towards the warriors den.
(I will send you a link with the new session later ^^)
