  • Springbreeze a in the Sandy Hollow waiting for her new apprentice Raynepaw. She flicked her tail

  • Raynepaw stretched her body and slinked out to the sandy hollow, "Hello, Springbreeze." She meowed.

  • "Hey Raynepw!" Springbreeze meowed happily as her apprentice padded up. "I was thinking of showing you a battle move or two today."

  • Raynepaw nodded, "Okay..." She meowed excitedly. She was ready to learn, to become a warrior.

  • "Okay first off," Springbreeze started flicking her tail, "I want you to come at me and see if you can hit me. Claws sheathed of course. Then I want you to tell me what skills you learned from that." she finshed.

  • Raynepaw nodded, her slender form dropping low to the ground, she slinked towards Springbreeze weaving like she was going to flank left. Right as she leaped, she switched directions, now rocketing towards her mentor's right side. As she passed, her paw darted out, aiming a blow at Springbreeze's shoulder.

  • Springbreeze just gently side-stepped, then sat back down. "Nice try, I could feel the wind of that." she meowed. "Do think next time." she added. "Just let your instincs do the work for you. When you tink, it makes you slower."

  • Raynepaw only blinked, sitting still with her back to Springbreeze. In a moment, she was a blur of motion, her body soaring quietly towards Springbreeze's back. Her blue paw reached out and hit Springbreeze lightly between her shoulders. With barely any effort, Raynepaw landed neatly.

  • Spirngbreeze's head fell onto the sand. When she got up, she smiled happily. "That's what I mean about not to think, just act." she purred. She nudged her apprentice warmly. She shook each of her paws in turn getting the sand out of in between them.

  • Raynepaw purred happily, "Thanks for teaching me that! I'll remember it!" She meowed shifting her paws.

  • Springbreeze purred along with her. "Now, do you wnat to practice hunting, or learn a real battle move?" she asked.

  • Raynepaw thought for a moment, "Hunting!" She exclaimed.

  • "Okay!" Springbreeze meowed. "Let me see your hunters croutch befpre we go." she ordered.

  • Raynepaw dropped into a crouch with one smooth movement, she kept her tail down. Making sure it stayed still, she began to creep forwards, placing her feet softly upon the ground and keeping her haunches poised to spring. "Is that good?" She meowed straightening.

  • "Simpily fantastic!" Springbreeze complimented. Then she looked twoards the forest. "Go and hunt." she ordered. "See if you can bring me a squrrile or two mice."

  • Raynepaw nodded, dashing off quickly and silently. Once she was in the forest, she let instinct take over. Not thinking about it like her mentor had suggested. Soon enough, she had pounced on a thrush, burying it next to the squirrel she had caught right away. After she had collected a mouse, she picked up her kill and dropped it at Springbreeze's paws.

  • Springbreeze nodded approvingly. She examined the prey more carefully. "All nice and plump..." she murrmered. "Wounderful. You can bring some to the elders later." she meowed.

  • Raynepaw nodded, "Thank you...I will take it to them later..." She meowed licking her paws.

  • "Now let's review what we learned today." Springbreeze meowed. "Tell me what you learned."

  • Raynepaw thought, "That you are a great mentor...About crouching, and about letting my instincts take over." She said after a moment of thought.
