Cloverstar flicked her tail and stood. "Stay there, i'll be back. I'm going to find some herbs and get a hare or two for you." Cloverstar strolled out of the nursery, and return a few minutes later carrying a huge desert hare and two small bundles of herbs. "Here you go." she meowed, laying them down beside the queen.

Suddenly, an apprentice named Shearpaw walked over.

Whitetail cried out again

Cloverstar saw Shearpaw. Her hackles raised, but then, realising it was once of the clan's apprentices, she calmed down. "Hello, Shearpaw. I'm just attending to Whitetail - her kits are arriving."

Whitetail said, "Help me."

Cloverstar leaned closer to Whitetail. She looked behind her for a second. Then she looked at Whitetail again. A small, red tabby kit lay beside Whitetail, wrapped in a birth sac. The poor kit, like all kits, couldn't breathe inside the sac. Cloverstar leaned in and nipped open the birth sac so Whitetail wouldn't have to. She nudged the kit (Owlkit) towards Whitetail, so Whitetail could lick her kit.
