    They change at different increments I believe. At fifty it will change.


    They also signify different ranks, such as mods, or bio approvers (I think)

    They change according to your post level. At first, until about 500 or so posts, your rank of stars goes up at a pace of 50 posts, and then later that number increases, although I don't know the specifics.

    Yup. Larger snowflakes for under 1,000 posts, and then after the rank "Mice Fear Me" there are smaller snowflakes. BAs have 2 stars, Admins and Global Mods have 5 large snowflakes, and mods have 4 small snowflakelike dots.

    With the stars, Bio Approvers have two red stars, Moderators have four green starts, Global Moderators have four blue stars, and Admins have five blue stars.
