Gianna tensed. She could feel them creeping up, on their foul excuses for horses...
Exaliana fit an arrow onto the bow. "We fight till we can't fight any longer!" she shouted, and leaped out of the forest. With sickening speed, she fired three arrows into the stampede, and ran back in.
"Well, we might as well say his real name now," she said as she reloaded and jumped out again.
"Hey you, you sick, foul, reeking corpse! You horrid, stinking... Tjiest!"
The riders stopped abruptly. The dust cloud withered, and the forms appeared. There were a dozen of them, all riding some sort of horse. All but one had thin, greyish bodies that swayed in the wind. The other was red, muscular, and tall. He had great horns that towered three feet into thorn-sharp spikes. "You dare speak the name?" growled the red being, in a deep voice. "You dare speak the name of the greatest demon who ever spawned? YOU DARE? And you kill my fellows! What more crimes must you commit?" he waved one hand, a tiny movement, and the horses rose into the air. Exaliana gasped and ran for the forest.
