  • Eclipse sighed sadly "I mean... he won't tell me why he fears the shadows. Not because of the assassin."

Blix unhooked his bow. It was lined with night black dragon scales, they had a tint of purple too. He took out a few bows and said "Come on. We will see who kills the largest deer in the forest."

  • Exaliana sat in the fields, thinking, dreaming. She sighed contentedely. "This is the life, Gianna," she said to her horse.
Indeed, Gianna agreed. The stars are truly only beautiful away from the city. There must be hundreds of millions up there!
Exaliana nodded and laid her dark bow on her lap. "What will we do tomorrow?" she asked, smiling slightly.
Gianna snorted. Who should know what the next day brings? For with adventure comes uncertainty, with freedom, choices, she told Exaliana in their traditional good-night.
Exaliana sighed. "I can't believe we've said that to each other every night for the past four years!"
I remember when you asked me that question for the first time, Gianna said, eyes gleaming. But then she shook her head. Anyway, good night. And with that, she fell asleep.

  • The black dragon had remained motionless, but now she knew for a fact that she had to leave. Would she report to Samuel? She didn't know, but she did know she had lost too many advantages for it to be worth the risk. She followed the shadow to the top of the pillar, which was only eight and a half feet, before she took off as fast as she could, knowing the last thing she needed was to be spotted. Even though she was bound to be.

Cad turned Poseidon about and pulled at the lever that would activate the jousting practice dummy. The simple mechanics caused another wooden dummy of a horseman a hundred yards away to jolt to a start, slowly gaining momentum. Poseidon jolted forward, and Cadaecus adjusted the gleaming black halberd in his right hand. They drew closer and closer...
Poseidon rocketed past, with the dummy's wooden head impaled on the halberd.
Beautiful accuracy, my boy! crowed Poseidon's voice in his head as the roan stallion slowed. You should be scared of yourself, if you weren't yourself.
    Stop confusing me!

  • Red smiled and followed Blix
Her red cloak shifting at her every movement, Red Forenhoarks hadn't hunted many deer back home, but she could always talk to the deer and tell them to come to her, she giggled softly

    Greeneyes mumbled something to herself
I don't trust anything here Red said to Greeneyes through her head
That's a good choice, not until we know more about them
That's why I said it Greeneyes
    Red don't start
    Okay Greeneyes
Make sure you dot kill any wolves
    I will

  • The dragon that had hid in the shadows was revealed to be about the size of a jaguar, with wings that were each twice the rest of her size. As she accelerated, she began to look more and more like a huge condor with her head and slender neck hidden under her vast, pitch-black wings.

  • The dragon hissed, not unlike the panther she resembled in size, dropping to the ground so the other dragon overshot her. She was immediately on her hind paws, wings folded about her like a large cloak as she glared at the dragon with those incredibly huge eyes. Her tail dropped, hiding itself in the tall yellow grass, and her claws extended under her wings.

  • Gianna woke before her Rider. She could smell something in the air, and it wasn't a storm. She looked into the distance, and saw a cloud of dust, rising towards them...

Exaliana woke to a horse screaming in her head. She jumped up, wide awake, bow at the ready. What is it? she asked, irritated.
Quick! They're coming! No questions, get into the forest, now!
Exaliana obeyed, and ran into the nearby forest. She sensed Gianna coming near, and whispered, "What was that for?"
Can you not hear it, Sharp One? Can you not feel it rocking inside you? They are coming. They are near.

  • Greeneyes whirled snarling and roaring, her bright green eyes full of rage, her tail whipped around with her
Greeneyes aimed to slice the dragon's side open and loosen it's footing

  • The dragon growled and sprang five feet back and fifteen into the air. She landed on her hind legs again, this time hiding her tail under her wings, pulling a frond from it and narrowing her eyes at the other one.
"That's not very wise, you know. Not much is what they seem in these parts." she murmured cryptically.

  • Exaliana looked at Gianna like she was crazy. "What are you--" Then she felt it. The rocking inside her, that dreading feeling... She gasped. "That's who you were talking about!"
Gianna snorted. Obviously. Now think! The last time we got away was just luck! We have but seconds to draw out a battle plan before they catch us again!

  • Poseidon suddenly went rigid, no matter how hard Cad urged him on.
What is it this time, you old bat? A harmless tremor?
Ready your halberd, and for heaven's sake, get that wooden thing off of it! replied the stallion in his head as he bolted forward. It was all Cadaecus could do to prevent falling off. Poseidon's ears swiveled towards the sound of the talking, and his nostrils flared, knowing that there was not just a rider, but a horse as well.

  • Greeneyes leapt into the air with amazing speed, her dark green scales glimmering, eyes full of rage and cautiousness, they cryptic talk didn't put her on edge at all, this dragon was a living thing, the living can be killed, the living can die, that's all Greeneyes needed
The green dragon swooped forwards aiming for the throat

  • The dark dragon waited until milliseconds before her throat would be mincemeat, then swerved her head to the side and bit at her opponent's neck, teeth flashing briefly in the light. Her wings fluttered out, kicking up dust and revealing the smoldering fuse she held in her front claw. Her tail coiled like it was a live python, the tip lunging at the dragon's back leg.

  • Blix was already in the woods hunting the deer. He hid in the top of the tree and waited near a water source.

Eclipse saw Greeneyes struggling with the assassin dragon. "I knew it!" he mumbled before rushing over to her aid.

  • Greeneyes roared in rage and pain then the dragon fell down to the ground
The dragon's vision blurred a little bit then cleared
Pain That was the first thought that came to Greeneyes' mind

Red called a large stag over and fed it, then quickly killed it, she said a prayer over its body then picked her kill up

  • The dragon shrugged.
"Told you." She noticed Eclipse and raised a deerlike ear as she turned to look at him. "Make sure she's patched up before anybody notices, will you, dear? I'd greatly appreciate it. Ta!" With that sickeningly courteous goodbye, she sprang into the air, a bit slower this time now that she knew there were less witnesses around and that one of the only ones was preoccupied. She hoped her amnesia-inducing venom was enough to erase memory of the scrap. If it wasn't, then oh well. Her wings unfurled and she was soon a good twenty feet in the air and climbing.

  • Blix waited patiently and then saw a large deer walk over and drink from the creek. He jumped down onto it's back and quickly slit it's throat. He prayed for it and then slowly dragged it back to the castle.

Eclipse roared at the dragon before it disapeared. "I'll find you!"
He rushed over to Greeneyes, "You ok?"
