  • Cavalier's POV

I'm Cavalier. I'm a Blackheart Rogue. One of the most notorious, if you ask me, or pretty much anyone else in the clan. I was born and raised as a loner, a rogue, and a killer. I once considered joining BloodClan. But, Blackheart was my home, and my home it would be. I was born a Blackheart Rogue, I live as a Blackheart Rogue, and I'll die as a Blackheart Rogue.
Yea, I'm a she-cat. Yea, I'm a notorious murderer. But it's my job in the clan. And I'll do it willingly.

I was given an assignment from the leader of Blackheart. I had to gather a group of rogues to help defend our territory against the onslaught of BloodClan warriors. It had always been my dream to fight and defeat BloodClan. Now was my chance. I walked over to an old abandoned shed. This was where our most notorious warriors stayed. We know how to survive in the worst climates. I scanned around, but then decided to ask instead. "I was chosen to gather a group of cats," I began, my voice low and gravelly, "to defend the Blackheart Rogue territories from the wrath of BloodClan. Who's with me?"

  • Cosmo was excited, well, more than excited. In other words, he was absolutely positively ecstatic. As soon as he had caught sight of her sauntering through the barn doors like she owned the place, in the back of his head a thousand blinking lights had switched on glaringly red. Red was the color of alarm, of danger, of blood. Adventure! The unbearable tension of her initial silence made his toes curl and his tail twitch at what felt about 1,000 rpm.

When she opened her mouth to speak, he could barely contain himself. Skip the pretty speech, he wanted to yowl. Let's go! Away from this boring place with these boring cats and their boring lives. Away from a cushy life spent lounging in the barn rafters with Dante and waiting for the swallows to fly into their mouths for lunch. Away from boredom in general. Away. Up, up, and away!

"YES!" he screamed, letting loose a loud roar of glee. "YES! I'm with you, ma'am!"

  • I smiled at the cat's enthusiasm for battle, adventure, and bloodshed. Fearless, I liked that. But perhaps he was too enthusiastic about this, especially after he nearly meowed my ears off. I shook my head to rid of the echoing roar, and nodded quickly at Cosmo, one of the more hyperactive notorious rogues, and asked, "Anyone else?" I raised an 'eyebrow' and waited, my tail twitching impatiently. In my dark orange eyes danced a dangerous fire. I was ready, oh so ready for this battle. I'd been waiting my whole life to battle the legendary BloodClan. But after this, The Blackheart Rogues will be the ones of legends. I turned to Cosmo. He was a good rogue. I knew him pretty well, after all, we kinda lived in the shed/barn with other top rogues. I turned back to look into the shed, and waited for another brave soul to step forward, and take on this respectable position to protect Blackheart from BloodClan.

  • He was young, this one, with long gangly, awkward limbs and ears and eyes that were still too big for his little heart-shaped face. He was young and proud and probably in way over his head. But orphan rogues like him lead hard lives, and they were prone to growing faster in mind than in body... Though unlike those orphan rogues, Cosmo had never taken anything in his life with a grain of salt. In his case, what you saw was what you got.

"So when do we go?" he asked, jumping down from the haystack and landing neatly on all fours. He still couldn't move with the graceful, effortless fluidity that Dante possessed, but he did walk with a certain practiced ease that drew a few appraising glances from the gaggle of young she-cats huddled underneath the stable doors. This was going to be so cool! "When?"

  • "Soon," I replied coolly, "very soon." A few more cats stepped forward to accompany me on the mission. My eyes gleamed and a devilish smile pasted itself on my muzzle. I couldn't wait, although I didn't show it. Inside, I was dying to fight. There were seven of us now. Cosmo, Blyke, Daesa, Mink, Kyna, Ember, and me, Cavalier. We were all tough, or that's what we showed. Rogues, we had to be tough, especially in our part of the world, where nothing is really easy, and everyone looks down on you because you're a rogue, a loner. I suppose you could compare the Blackheart Rogues to a gang. We were a tight-knit group of cats who didn't like the idea of a Clan or a Tribe. We lived together, yet we fended for ourselves.
"Let's go!" I yowled, and I began to run, leading the rogues to the border from where the BloodClan cats would be coming. Adrenaline, pure adrenaline, coursed through my body, my dark orange eyes glowing, my dark pelt shining, my muscles rippling underneath. This was going to be legendary, or at least, in my mind it would be.
