Whitestep nodded once, accepting her gesture of respect. Hearing another cat, he turned and saw a she-cat pad over to them. She smelled of Riverclan, thankfully. He relaxed the muscles in his body that had defensively became tense.

"Hi Whitestep"Spiritheart mewed.
-
"Hi I'm Violetpaw." she mewed.
-
"Hi!That's a nice name!Violetpaw."Spiritheart mewed kindly.
-
"Thanks.What's yours?" she smiled too.
-
"Your Welcome.My name is Spiritheart"Spiritheart mewed,smiling.
-
"Cool.Greetings Spiritheart. Is there any way I can join this clan?" she asked.
-
Whitestep turned to the warrior near him and nodded. Hello, Spiritheart. He glanced back at Violetpaw before standing once more. Are either of you hungry? I could catch lunch for us.
-
"That'd be great! And as for you Violetpaw,of course you can join the clan!Let's see what the leader thinks."She mewed.
-
Violetpaw nodded.
"Ok." -
Whitestep nodded and padded off towards the edge of the forest. He scented the air, smelling a faint scent of an elk that had long since passed by the river. Of course, that was much too big of game for him. He trudged through the brush, scenting the air. The occasional aromas of a fox or badger would tickle his nose, but the scents were old.
A sudden strong smell hit his nose as he immediately crouched into the foliage. A large squirrel was perched on its haunches, snacking on a rather large nut it had found. Taking the advantage of the rodent's distraction, Whitestep charged out of the bushes and lept onto the squirrel before it even noticed he was there.
The tom picked up the now limp body of the squirrel and trotted back to where Violetpaw and Spiritheart waited his return. -
Violetpaw squinted at the distance and saw Whitestep returning.
"Oh thanks!" she exclaimed as her stomach growled louder then it ever has.
"I haven't learned to hunt yet. Thanks Whitestep." she smiled. -
Whitestep smiled as he sat and watched the young she-cat eat. He silently wondered to himself for a moment as he watched the carcass slowly deminish from Violetpaw's hungry appetite. He patiently waited for her to finish as he made up the decision he had been pondering.
-
Spiritheart took a few bites of squirrel and left the rest for Violetpaw. Spiritheart then heard the sound of a mouse scuttling among the bushes. She dropped into the hunter's position and sprang forward, killing the mouse with one blow of her paw. Spiritheart picked up the limp body and dropped it in front of Whitestep."You can have it if you want" Spiritheart mewed.
-
Whitestep turned to look at the kill that Spiritheart had caught for him. It was a very plump mouse. And it looked delicious. The dark tom looked up to the warrior and nodded appreciatively. Thank you. He bent down and began eating the wonderful mouse meat.
-
"No problem" Spiritheart mewed.
-
Violetpaw finished in a hungry gulp.
"Thank you so much." she smiled. -
Whitestep looked up from his meal at the young she-cat. He sat up and licked his lips clean before turning his attention to her. "Violetpaw, how would you like to be my apprentice?" He couldn't help the small smile that teased the corners of his lips. To him, this soon-to-be warrior was a rare find; kind, appreciative, smart. A good lot of the things he was looking for in an apprentice.
-
" Oh. I uh. I better get going" Spiritheart mewed with a tang of disappointment and sadness in her voice and padded off. Spiritheart too had wanted an apprentice like Violetpaw.
-
"Err sure." she didnt know what to say.
She had finally found a clan that took care of her.
