The tortoiseshell she-kit sat alone in the nursery, amber eyes scanning around to see any sign of life. Well, of course there'd be life. What she was looking for was rather... movement. Her mother had abandoned her about two days after she was born. She apparently couldn't stand the sight of her.

Was she that ugly? Dawn light crept through the entrance slowly. With the light, the kit was able to glance at her own pelt. Tortoiseshell. What was hideous about that? Its dull brown and gold-ish color? Her mother was a golden tabby, while her father was a brown tabby. What did her eyes look like? Now that would have to be something some other cat would tell her. Which again, brought her back to the real world.

The tortoiseshell kit kept looking around the nursery, amber eyes watchful. Her tail flicked back and forth with impatience. She wanted someone, anyone, to talk to her. What a gift from Starclan that would be. Not only her mother, but her father had also ignored her. Her first name was first Lifekit. What a wonderful name, given to her on the day she was born. But she was late in opening her eyes, two days after she was born.

That's when her mother went to Fadingstar to get her name changed. Her new name, you wonder? Ignoredkit. Sad and pathetic, and she wishes her mother would take it back. But, no, her mother is stupid and ridiculous. She heard other kits in the nursery murmuring about what a wonderful mother she is, how gracious and kind. Well, they haven't heard Ignoredkit's side of the story yet.

  • Fawnkit cheerfully padded into the nursery, flicking slilver droplets of water off of her tail. The rest of her body was also damp and flattened down, but what else would happen if you played in the rippling puddles that dotted the camp? Her fawn-colored pelt reflected the sun that wafted into the den, and her hazel eyes glowed. She walked to her nest, only to stop at the sight of the motionless kit sitting in one area of the nursery. All alone.
Fawnkit was a kind kit. She couldn't help herself. She was who she was. End of story. Some of the other kits bullied her but she just stuck up her nose and ignored them. This kit seemed so depressed, so she decided to approach her. She took a few steps toward her and mewed out kindly. "Hi there! My name is Fawnkit. What's your name?"

  • Although Ignoredkit had wanted to talk to somebody, she didn't expect someone to actually be willing to do it. Her amber eyes flashed with surprise, but she stayed where she was in her nest, her tortoiseshell fur prickling with unease. "My name's Ignoredkit," she mewed, so quietly it was practically a whisper.

  • Had she heard her right? Ignoredkit? Fawnkit eyed the kit for a moment, confused about the name. Who would name their kit Ignoredkit? That's so.....so... Fawnkit couldn't place the word to describe her shock but then walked closer and sat down infront of the kit. Once closer, Fawnkit noticed the sleek tortoiseshell pelt that covered her and her amber eyes. But Fawnkit could tell that she was nervous. Or worried. Or....something. Then she looked around the den. searching for a possible mother for the kit, but found no evidence of a care giver. "Where's your mother? Is she out hunting? If we ask we could go outside and play!" Fawnkit suggested. Maybe too soon but it was in her perky personality.

  • "My mother's over there," Ignoredkit mewed, flicking her spotted tail over to where a golden tabby she-cat was nursing a brown tabby kit that was bigger than her. Ignoredkit envied the warmth that Acornkit, her brother, got from the beautiful golden tabby that had her body wrapped around her kit. "Me leaving the nursery isn't the best idea."

  • Fawnkit immediatly saw that something was up. She seemed uneasy about her mother who currently wasn't even offering Ignoredkit a meal. And why would she possibly be worried about going outside the camp. Besides, Fawnkit thought. All I have is a plain fawn coat while she has pretty tortoiseshell fur... Then she shook her head to clear her thoughts. "Come on let's go for a walk." She urged the kit.

  • Fawnkit looked at the other kit confusedly. Prettykit? Fawnkit thought the name was mousebrained but kept her thoughts to herself. Then she turned back to Ignoredkit. "Let's go outside for some fresh air." She suggested.

  • Fawnkit took the lead and went through the nursery entrance. She bounded toward a bramble that was one of the main meeting places for kits. She sat down and waited for the others.

  • Fawnkit waited outside the nursery for the other two kits to join her.

  • Fawnkit stood up and blocked the kit from giving the kit a tour. "Wait, why don't we just hang out by the bramble for a bit so she can get used to all the bustling that goes on out here." She suggested. "We can catch up with each other, talk I mean." She mewed.

  • Fawnkit nodded happily and nudged Ignoredkit toward the brambles.
