"I-it's okay. I'm sorry about saying that in the first place, though," Frozensun said to her, smiling apologetically.

She shook her head again, "No need," Squeak smiled back.
-
"I am anyway." Frozensun looked up at her, and stepped forward. "So we going to keep going?"
-
"You shouldn't be," she muttered to herself, then nodded. "Lead the way? I don't know where to go.." she admitted.
-
"You new around here then?" He asked her. The river wasn't far off now, they'd be there within minutes. Frozensun took the lead, though, and began to finish the walk to the river.
-
"Yeah fairly new.." Squeak mewed, following Frozensun.
-
"Well you'll get used to this place fast. That is, as long as you plan on sticking around," Frozensun mewed back as he pushed through a bush. On the other side was a still partially-frozen river, raised above it's greenleaf height from the melt water. "A lot of cats I've met don't stay here long."
-
Squeak shrugged then frowned, "How come?" she asked.
-
"I dunno. A few of them had places they wanted to go, others just didn't think this place suited them," Frozensun said to her. He lowered his head as he thought about it, and sat down in front of the river. it was quite pretty. "The ones that stick around here enjoy it, though."
-
Squeak sat down as well, "Hmm.. I'll bare that in mind.." she mewed. Looking at the river she loved the fact that some of it was still ice, she looked over at Frozensun, "Are you okay?" she asked as she noticed how his head was down.
-
"I miss one of the cats who didn't stay," Frozensun explained. There had only been one cat he'd ever really been attached to - a young, pretty she-cat by the name of Daisy. She'd stuck around for about a moon before leaving without a word to him. He hadn't seen her since. He lifted his head up, and looked over at Squeak.
-
"I'm guessing this cat meant quite a lot to you?" she asked quietly, looking back at him.
-
"She did," Frozensun said, nodding. "It was moons ago, though." Generally, he didn't think about Daisy. It was easier to get by without her memories floating around.
"You ever met a cat that just left a lasting impression on you?" He asked Squeak, tilting his head.
-
Squeak nodded, "Just one, back in the town I came from," she mewed, looking back at the river.
-
"Musta been somethin' special," Frozensun joked as he pawed at the river. "New subject. I dont like this one." He chuckled softly, trying to pass it off as nothing.
-
Squeak could see what he was doing but decided to go along with it, "How long have you been round here for then?" she questioned.
-
"I've been here since I was born, actually," Frozensun said to her and smiled. he was glad that she was willing to change the topic. The tom darted his paw in to the river and pulled a fish out of the water. It would die on the ground by itself if he didn't feel like killing it, but one bite to its neck killed it.
"You want some?" He asked Squeak.
-
Squeak tried to act like she wasn't impressed, she didnt know if it worked or not, "Sure," she mewed.
-
Frozensun pushed the dead fish over to her with one of his front paws. "You ever ate fish before?" He asked her.
-
"Nope," she mewed cheerfully, looking at the fish she sniffed it.
