Galaxyflare nodded slowly as he watched Midnightpaw. He's keeping his tail higher, like I told him to do last time. It's good that he remembered, he thought to himself. This young cat definitely showed a lot of promise.

Midnightpaw got close to the vole, then pounced.
-
"Great catch!" Galaxyflare smiled "You're really getting the hang of this fast. Okay, let's try catching a bird. Can you smell any?"
-
Midnightpaw sniffed. "Uh… I think I smell a sparrow," he mewed.
-
"Go for it," Galaxyflare told his apprentice, nodding at him.
-
Midnightpaw crouched down low and silently moved toward the sparrow. When he was just a tail-length away, he pounced. The sparrow attempted to fly away, but Midnightpaw was too quick for it.
-
"Brilliant catch! You're learning too quick! By the end of this moon I'll have nothing left for you to work on!" Gakaxyflare laughed.
-
"Then at the end of this moon, could I become a warrior?" Midnightpaw joked.
-
"Im not sure our leader would approve," Galaxyflare chuckled. He thought about what he'd do next with his apprentice. "Come with me, we'll do some battle training."
-
"Ok," Midnightpaw mewed and followed Galaxyflare.
-
"Okay, today we'll practice confusing our enemy and being fast when you attack, things like that. First thing's first, you don't want to give your enemy any thinking time before you attack. Whilst, you're attacking, think up your next move. If you do this correctly, your opponent wont know what to expect and they'll end up running off with their tail in the air," Galaxyflare explained to his apprentice. He hoped Midnightpaw understood all that and could take it all in, and had next to no doubts that he could.
-
"Ok… so… I make my first attack quickly and as soon as I can, then while I'm attacking, I think of my next move?" Midnightpaw mewed, hoping he got it right.
-
"Yep!" Galaxyflare confirmed, glad his apprentice had got it right first time, and it didn't need further explanation. "Want to try?" he asked.
-
"Ok," he mewed.
-
Galaxyflare crouched, facing Midnightpaw, and waited patiently for his first move.
-
Midnightpaw leaped at Galaxyflare as soon as he could.
-
Galaxyflare didn't see the jump coming straight away, but he was expecting the attack and used this as an advantage and tried pawing at his apprentice's pelt, claws sheathed.
-
Midnightpaw tried to land quicker so he would land on Galaxyflare.
-
This time Galaxyflare was caught, and he instinctively started swaying himself in an attempt to knock his apprentice off.
-
Midnightpaw got knocked off. He rolled and got to his paws quickly.
