Galaxyflare tried to remember some of the first battle moves he had been taught as an apprentice. "Okay, this one is simple. Look like you're aiming for under me, so my instinct would be to jump up. Then, as you go under me, scratch my belly," he explained.

"Ok," Midnightpaw mewed. He looked like he was aiming for under Galaxyflare.
-
Galaxyflare pretended to be battling Midnightpaw, and saw he was aiming for underneath. Playing along, he jumped up in an attempt to dodge his apprentice's attack.
-
Midnightpaw swiped his paw under Galaxyflare's belly as he went under, what would be scratching if he were using claws.
-
"Perfect!" Galaxyflare praised his apprentice whilst he got to his paws. "Okay, we'll practice that move a few more times then stop for the day."
-
"Ok," Midnightpaw mewed, and looked like he was aiming for under Galaxyflare again.
-
Slightly tired now, Galaxyflare jumped again.
-
As Midnightpaw was going under his mentor, he swiped his paw like he did last time, but not as quickly because he was getting tired.
-
"I think we're both getting tired," Galaxyflare meowed to his apprentice "Let's continue the lesson tomorrow."
-
"Ok," Midnightpaw mewed.
-
Early the next day, Galaxyflare waited outside the apprentice den for Midnightpaw to wake up. He planned to do a lesson about hunting today, where he would teach his apprentice the best ways to keep yourself unnoticed by prey.
-
Midnightpaw woke up, excited to resume training. He padded outside of the apprentice den. "Hi Galaxyflare," he mewed, "I'm ready to train!"
-
"Great!" Galaxyflare smiled, stretching his legs "Today we're going to do more work on hunting. Learn some techniques and whatnot."
-
"Ok!" Midnightpaw mewed exitedly.
-
Galaxyflare led the way out of camp and back to the place from their previous session. He scented the air, checking to see if the prey had come out yet, and sure enough, a fair few smells met his nose. "Remember," he reminded his apprentice "We have to be real quiet so we don't scare the prey away."
-
"Got it," Midnightpaw whispered.
-
Galaxyflare nodded, smelling the air one last time before asking his apprentice "What can you smell now?"
-
Midnightpaw sniffed. "Uh… I think I smell a vole?" he mewed.
-
"Right," Galaxyflare said "Try catching it." He stood back and let his apprentice get to his task, watching his movements and techniques closely.
-
Midnightpaw crouched, tail higher than last time, and moved silently and light on his paws toward the vole, trying not to be detected.
