Sapphiremoon padded into the shed, and mewed to the other queens, "Hello. I'm Sapphiremoon. I'm the newest queen here, expecting a kit soon. What's all of your names? And who's this baby?" She padded up to a little brown tom, and started rasping her tongue over him in affection.

Sarabi yawned and stretched from her nap. The gold queen looked to the new one. "Hello there," she mewed, a hint of sleepiness in her voice.
-
"Hello I'm Sapphiremoon! What is your name? Wait... you are Sarabi, yes?" Sapphiremoon said. She remembered Sgorr talking about her...and her kits.
-
Sarabi's eyes opened wide with shock. "How do you know my name?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
-
"Oh, Sgorr told me about you," Sapphiremoon meowed. She curled up in an open bed near Sarabi and said, "Do you have the time for a story?"
-
Sarabi nodded. There wasn't much to do in the Nursery. "Go ahead."
-
"Well," Sapphiremoon began, "I used to be a loner. Caught prey on my own, hated to fight. That was my whole life. Then, I stumbled upon this place in the city. A Maine Coon named Sgorr was gonna lead this invasion on Sunclan. When I saw the gleam in his eyes, I thought it was love. But it wasn't. It was bloodthirsty ambition." Sapphiremoon stopped for a second to stifle a tear, then continued, "As we leaped into the clearing and started hurting cats, I knew this wasn't the life for me. I needed a life of peace. After the raid, I became pregnent. Then there were these three Thunderclanners who wanted vengence on Sgorr. So, they decided to take it out on his mates and his kits. Me and Zira, she's another rogue, and all our kits, they're in danger. That's why I came here. I want to give Clan life a try, and I want my kit to be strong and safe from Thunderclan."
-
"Zira?" Sarabi whispered the hated name. "She's still alive? I thought we finished her at the gorge!"
The golden she-cat then flicked her tail irritably. "Zira can take care of those ThunderClanners, and maybe have their bones as a snack." -
"What gorge?" Sapphiremoon mewed, "Now it's your turn to tell the story. Tell me more about this."
-
"Mufasa and Sgorr fought," Sarabi explained. "I took on Zira of course. It was a fierce fight, and I managed to knock her into the gorge by WindClan territory. I thought she drowned, but it turned out she didn't."
-
"I wish she had," Sapphiremoon mewed, "Then we wouldn't have as much competition, and Mufasa, and you, would be safer."
-
Sarabi nodded. "Ya...I guess. She likes eating cats...you know..."
-
Sapphiremoon stretched in her bed and snuggled deeper into it. "Don't I know it. She looked like she would rip up those Thunderclanners when I left. I hope she did," she said.
-
"Yeah, TC has been arguing with our clan over Tallpines for a long time," Sarabi commented.
-
"Well, maybe, they will find me," Sapphiremoon commented, "If your always fighting. I guess I thought they won't think of looking for me here."
-
"The Clan will protect us," Sarabi mewed, to get to the point.
-
"Thank you," Sapphiremoon said. Sarabi didn't know how comforting those words were.
-
Sarabi padded over to the dwindling fresh-kill pile. She selected a rabbit for her and the new queen to share. The gold tabby dropped it at Sapphiremoon's feet and nudged it towrad her. "There, your first meal in SunClan!"
-
"Really?" Sapphiremoon couldn't believe it. Her first day in the clan, and she had a friend. She nudged toward the rabbit and started gulping it down, being sure to save half for Sarabi. Sapphiremoon didn't remember the last time she had fresh kill, and she LOVED it!
-
Sarabi smiled at Sapphiremoon. "Tasty, heh?" she grinned. "We queens get the best of the prey, for we are raising the next generation."
