yes!
Elizabeth nodded. "Hurry, i want to make sure max didn't explode the mansion." she joked, before running to the door. THen... the scent hit her.
"You're. . . Caroline, right?" Casey said, raking his brain for the correct name.
Kimberly grabbed some paper towels out of the bathroom, wiping the water from her face. Her mascara had started running, so she sighed and washes the rest of it out. Shouldering her backpack, she took her keys out of her pocket and walked back out to the commons room and outside to her truck.
Caroline nodded her head, her eyes watching him carefully. She wondered why he was talking to her, and if he needed something. After all, she was a pretty great student in the arts side of school.
James pulled up to their house and parked his truck, then walked inside. He was greeted by a growling german shepherd. Rusty always got angry when Caroline was not home. "CAlm down boy, nothing happened to her." he said.
Casey suddenly realized how weird he must look to her; randomly walking up when he'd never really talked to her. "I, uhm," he spluttered for the words, "I guess you looked kinda . . . Forlorn?" The sentence came out as a question.
Caroline smiled halfway. "thank you for your concern. " she said, brushing some loose blonde strands. She then looked at him. "I'm actually heading to the cafe down the street." she concluded.
Kimberly yawned and opened the door of her truck, tossing her bag to the side. She glanced in the mirror at herself, sighing. Her sigh quickly turned into an exhausted chuckle. It was ironic really, she had just warned the new girl and here she was, damp and almost dripping. She tensed slightly, noticing the note on her dash. She watched it warily, unsure what this one would say. Her truck had been locked; how had this happened? She reached for it, hesitantly.
"I'll go with you," Casey announced. "If you don't mind," he added, the politeness he'd been brought up with kicking in.
Kimberly grabbed the piece of ragged paper with a trembling hand. She flicked her eyes around her, making sure no one was around. Seeing no one, she opened the slip shakily. Her eyes drank in the four words, reading and rereading them. "They're here. Be careful." Once again, the handwriting was not her own, nor one she recognised. Kimberly tossed it back on the dash, her heart pounding in her chest.
Caroline nodded, a bit surprised. But she didn't show it. "okay." she said then began walking, eyes to the ground. It was rude to listen to music while someone else was there.
Casey followed Caroline, keeping up with her pace, but staying a step behind.
Caroline didn't say anything. To her, silence wad golden. She came to the stop sign, then looked at it. It said don't walk, but no cars were coming, so she unexpectedly sprinted across, glad she had worn sneaker instead of any other shoe. She smile as she reached the other side, ten turned to see if Casey had followed.
Casey sprinted after her, but when he was about half-way across, a car began driving toward him. He gave an extra burst of speed to carry him safely to the other side of the street, but that didn't stop the car from honking at him. Even the horn sounded angry. . .
Caroline stared a the car a it drove on, emotionless. "are you okay?" she asked, knowing he was as she turned her head to wath the car drive off. She then began walking. The cafe was only a block away.
Casey glanced behind him, then turned his gaze to Caroline. "Yup," he said cheerfully, despite the fact he could have been run over. "I'm fine."
Caroline nodded. "Drivers honestly need to relax... like my brother... when he drives, he acts high.." she said, smiling slightly.
"In that case, I think I'd prefer to stay away from roads altogether," Casey replied.
Caroline shrugged. "I mean like he doesn't get worked up about stuff... he isn't that reckless.... just a little careless now and then." she said, walking into the cafe. There was soft, indue music playing in the background. It only had about 3 there customers in it.
Kimberly closed her green eyes before opening them and taking a deep breath. She was late for dance. The engine roared to life as she made her way out of the parking lot towards the studio.
