  • Where was she? The serval she-cat hadn't had a chance to figure out what was going on when those strange cats took over the land around her home and her family just... left. Her lovely owners. She'd just.. run. Run and run and run. Run from the attacking cats and the dogs and all of them.

And she'd come to this place. Her eyes surveyed the land as she crouched just within it, not aware of borders. She'd lived her whole life in captivity, and somehow she'd managed to find this area. Unknowingly, Brody, the leader of this land, was her brother.

Lindini's breathing was ragged and fearful. She was scared. It was so different out here.

  • A young black and white kit stopped, and crouched lower in the grass, observing the serval newcomer. She was of the same species he was--but of original, natural colouration, not the black and white, piebald pattern that young Factoid was.

He watched, studying carefully. Curiosity made him lift himself up a little higher to get a better view.

  • Lindini saw the young kit, or rather just the movement of the kit, and crouched low in the grass, terror seizing her. Without the natural instinct of fight or flight learned in, she was helpless to her fear. She swallowed, unwelcome bile rising up in her throat. Who was this stranger? Were they cat or something much vaster, much more dangerous?

They were going to kill her, that was for sure.

The serval let out a petrified whimper, drawing her paws in close to her body and tucking them under her chest and abdomen. Her tail, fluffed out fully in reaction to the other creature lurking somewhere out there, would not budge from where it was lying, curled half around her. She let out a meek hiss, eyes glazed in fear.

  • "Who... Who's there?" Lindini whimpered out, curling tighter into a ball. She hadn't experienced this sort of thing back at home in her soft kittypet home!

  • Factoid appeared more boldly now, realising she was afraid of him. Of him! He may have been a serval, but he was only a kit.

"My name is Factoid. Um, nice to meet you?"

  • Lindini stared at the kit, still afraid but calming down when she realized it was a kitten. "Where am I?" She asked, tail beginning to smooth down. "I'm Lindini. Why're you out here in the..." She looked around rapidly. What was this place? "Wilderness alone?" It was dangerous for a kitten, and herself! She had no clue other cats could be hiding nearby without her knowing.

  • Lindini looked at him with her bewilderment mirrored onto her face. "You live out here? Where are your housefolk?" She wasn't as scared now, slowly calming down. "Wilderness is this land where there are no housefolk." She looked around. Unless they're around here somewhere.

  • Lindini's eyes widened. "Why, they're the people on two legs who give you food! You don't mean to say there are none out here?" Well, silly, that's why it's called the Wilderness. You just said that.

  • "They're big and bald, they come in different colors like cats but without spots, and they walk on two legs and have these colorful skins they change in and out of called clothes." Lindini explained.

  • "Because they don't have fur? I don't know. They're quizzical beasts..." Lindini mused, raising a paw to her chin in thought.

  • Lindini frowned. "I'm looking for them, for my home. These mean cats came and chased me out of my home, because my people disappeared... Where is this?" She looked around.

  • Lindini frowned, worried. "I don't know. Who's your dad?" The name Brodeland sounded almost familiar.

[ Wynn, I watched a movie in Drivers Ed today with a boy named Brody. :P ]
