  • Russetflower padded through the open field, sniffing the air with join. Her long limbs ached from being curled up in the warriors den too long. This felt great!

  • Nearby, Whitemusic was sitting in her usual spot, watching the clouds go by overhead. The sun poked through now and then, giving a little warmth to her creamy white and red fur. It was strangely warm for leaf-bare, but the WindClan warrior wasn't about to complain. She loved sitting out in the open, and it was better when it was warmer.

She twitched her ears and looked around, hearing Russetflower nearby. "Hey!" she called out, waving her striped ginger tail in greeting. "Nice day out, isn't it?"

  • Russetflower heard a voice call out to her. She moved her yellow gaze to see Whitemusic sitting in the field. Purring, she padded over and sat across from the creamy she-cat before she answered, "It is perfect out. And thank Starclan it isn't windier than this! Leaf-bare is cold enough." She gave a little shiver to prove her point

  • The flame-point nodded in agreement with a small smile. "I'm so glad the snow's melting. It's so much easier to go running now!" And Whitemusic did love to run; she was a WindClan cat, after all. Being cooped up in camp with snow all around was enough to drive her crazy.

"So what brings you out of camp today?" she asked, glancing back up at the sky. The cloud she had been watching that looked like a horse had been distorted already as it moved, looking more like a snake now.

  • Russetflower nodded as Whitemusic spoke, agreeing with her silently. She flicked her redish-brown ear and licked her lips. "I was hoping to stretch my legs. I hate being cooped up in the camp as well. Soon enough we will be able to run again... but we must watch out for the slippery slush."

  • "Yeah, I can't wait 'til I can really run, once it gets warmer..." Whitemusic said, looking wistful. Leaf-bare was really her least-favorite season. Everything was cold, and the snow seemed to muffle any sound. "Maybe if we're lucky, it won't snow anymore and newleaf will come early."

  • "I love the way the forest sounds when everything is melting," Whitemusic purred, stretching out in the grass, not seeming to mind the dampness. If she really listened now, she could already hear the water dripping off nearby bushes. "Drip, drip, drip!" she said, tail twitching.

  • Twitching her whiskers, Russetflower purred in amusement. "The sound is reassuring for newleaf's arrival, but the wet drops bug me." She shook her head, "They startle me! Dropping on my back, the chilly speck makes me think I'm being attacked!" She seemed to get uneasy as she spoke.

  • Just as Russetflower complained about the water dripping on her, a drop of cold water fell right onto Whitemusic's nose. She snorted in surprise, reeling back and pawing at the splash of wetness on her muzzle. "I see what you mean!" she squeaked.

  • Russetflower flicked her tail in shock then purred lightly in sympathy, hiding her amusement in her eyes. "It's always unexpected, even if you know it's coming! That statement is a bit contradictory, but I think you know what I mean." She flicked her tail again. Russetflower felt as if she always had to move.
