Frostleaf sat outside the entrance to the nursery, unsure of whether to enter or not. She loved kits, and one day really hoped to have some of her own... She heard faint mewling from inside and shuffled her paws. Longing to go in, but worried about being in the way, she poked her head inside. 'Hello,' Frostleaf mewed quietly. 'Can I come in?'
One day, maybe...

Englehunter jump from her lush yellow pelt as Frostleaf called out from the Riverclan nursery. "Whoa! Hey, sorry! You scared me..."
-
'Sorry,' Frostleaf murmured to her paws. 'I was wondering if I could come in and maybe see the kits...'
-
Silverfeather lifted her head, her eyes slowly opening, still a bit sticky and weary from her recent nap, "I don't see why not." She let out a yawn, muffling her voice a bit. With her forepaws outstretched towards the entrance to the den, a small kit squealed at her flanks, "Hey! That's my tail!" The queen smiled and licked it's fur down, "I'm sorry Moonkit."
-
With a nod of gratitude to Silverfeather, Frostleaf made her way into the den. She sat neatly by Silverfeather, giving Moonkit a kind look. 'Is it amazing? Being a mother, I mean.'
-
The she-cat smiled, purring softly, "Yes. It is. This is my second litter and I still enjoy it." Silverfeather smiled and nudged the two toms snuggled by her side, "Timberkit, Stonekit, Someone is here to see you.." A dark gray head popped up, "Who?" The second one, a light brown tom squeaked, "It's Frostleaf!" Stonekit chuckled and rose to his paws, "Hello." Timberkit squealed and leaped up, his fur bristling with excitement, "A warrior! I'm going to be one some day!" Moonkit smirked at her brother's enthusiasm and poked his flank with her paw, "You're not even old enough to be an apprentice yet." Timberkit fell over and pouted, "So?" Silverfeather chuckled softly and rolled onto her back.
-
Frostleaf purred as she watched the kits squabble. 'Hello!' she mewed to the eager kits. 'I'm sure you're all going to be brilliant warriors one day.'
-
Stonekit smiled and sat up proudly, "I'm going to be just like my father, Saborfang." Silverfeather smiled, "Of course you are dear." Timberkit weaved through Frostleaf's paws, "You mean it?" Moonkit sat back by her mothers flank, "Yes, she means it." She purred sarcasticly, rolling her eyes. Silverfeather smirked and nipped her daughters ear tip, "Don't be rude."
-
Watching the adoration that clearly bound Silverfeather and her kits, Frostleaf felt a pang of want. This was what she wanted. A family.
Feeling Timberkit around her paws, she nudged the kit carefully back towards Silverfeather. 'Maybe I could mentor one of you when you're apprentices.'
-
Timberkit's eyes widened, "Really!? Oh that's wonderful!" Silverfeather sat up and smiled, "Hopefully Bearstar shall announce you as his mentor Frostleaf. But I think that Stonekit want's his father as his mentor. And I'm not sure who Moonkit would prefer." The small she-kit smiled and nuzzled her mother's chest, "Maybe Jaguartree. I'm sure my older brother would mentor me." The queen nodded and slicked down her kits fur.
-
'I understand,' Frostleaf mewed tenderly. She could understand that some kits would have already chosen who they preferred as their mentor. Looking at Timberkit, she purred joyfully and nuzzled his shoulder. 'If Bearstar approves, then I would love to mentor you, Timberpaw,' Frosleaf said, pointedly exaggerating his future name.
-
Timberkit purred with delight, "Timberpaw. I love it!" Silverfeather chuckled softly, seeing her eldest son Jaguartree pad inside, "Evening mother. Frostleaf. Kits." The tom smiled and dropped a plump vole at his mothers paws, "Thank you Jaugartree. Oh and Moonkit has come to the conclusion that she wants you to mentor her." A wide smiled grew on her maw as she spoke. The tom purred softly and licked his sisters ears, "Hopefully."
-
'Hello Jaguartree', Frostleaf smiled. 'Timberkit here seems to like the idea of me mentoring him.'
-
His eyes widened, though it was most pleasureing, "Really now? Hmm. I'm sure you will make a fine mentor Frostleaf." He smiled, his tail curling around his paws. Timerkit purred and leaped at his older brother's paws, nipping them playfully.
-
Blinking in gratitude at Jaguartree, Frostleaf watched Timberkit pounce on his brother's paws. She could tell just by watching him that one day he would be a fantastic hunter, and being the one to teach him would be a blessing to her. And then, maybe, she could have her own kits.
'Silverfeather? Would you mind if I told the kits a story?' she mewed kindly.
-
The queen smiled and sat up, "Sure why not. I'll just go on a patrol with Jaguartree." The tom nodded to his mother and padded out, the she-cat followed closely behind.
Timberkit mewed, "A story!? What's it about?" Stonekit sighed and stretched, "This should be interesting." Moonkit chuckled softly and sat next to her adoring younger brother, "Calm down Timberkit. It's just a story." The tom glanced over at his sister, "So? It's a story from my future mentor!"
-
Frostleaf purred happily. 'Slow down, Timberkit, we don't know for sure if I'm going to mentor you.' Although she would love to say it was certain, it wasn't...
Turning to face all three of them, she asked, 'Would you like to hear a story about my first day as an apprentice?'
-
Though his tail drooped a bit, he still nodded excitedly, "Yea!" Moonkit shrugged, "Sure, why not?" She smirked as she recited the same words her mother usually says.
-
Seeing Timberkit's tail droop, Frostleaf felt guilty. 'Cheer up. I'll talk to Bearstar tomorrow. We'll see about me mentoring you.' She hoped that would cheer him up a little.
'Well,' she began. 'I never left the camp when I was a kit, so my first patrol was the first time I saw anything out of camp. I managed to fall in the river when I tried to catch my first fish.' She chuckled to herself at the memory of her mentor dragging her out of the water and trying to scold her while trying not to laugh at her predicament.
-
Timberkit chuckled, "Really? You fell into the river?" He almost fell back with laughter before Moonkit nipped his ear, "Don't be rude! I'm sure you'll fall in too! You don't even know how to swim yet." He narrowed his eyes, "So? She can teach me."
