Pebblestar watched the blood gush from his mate's side, saw the mighty creature raise its paws for the final blow, the one that would end it all.
For her own sake, and for his, and his children's, even on his final life; he couldn't let that happen.
Time ceased to have meaning, and he couldn't hear or register the feral snarl that tore through his lips as he threw himself between the two creatures, slamming hard into the bear's chest, hoping the momentum would carry his adversary away from his mate.

Snowfur had tried to wriggle away but watched in shock as her mate jump in front.
The bear growled and stood, running off in retreat.

Blackstone muttered something unintelligible, a very odd thing for the intelligent tom
who I totally didn't base of Cheren from Pokemon at first before he spiralled into this sexy beast nope.//mobile

OOC: Sorry!!
Nightclaw turned his head, searching for Wingheart as he took a swipe at a bear. If he couldn't see her because she had fled, that was good. If he couldn't see her because she was fighting... Not so good.
Pebblestar wasn't finished yet; no bear attacked his mate and Clan, and got away with it. Besides, this was the leader - kill it, and it would all be over.
He lunged back towards the beast, claws extended. -
i hope your okay,i meowed

Bump!

Wingheart let out a pathetic whimper as she was pressed up against a tree trunk by a young and confused bear, clawing meekly at its thick skull as it snuffled around. She squeaked as it launched forward, ducking and rolling beneath it before springing up onto its back and clawing down its spine, hissing.
-
As if he could miss it; the small sound of fright from the cat he loved the most rang endlessly in his ears, and the rest of the battlefield ceased to exist. Nightclaw spun fluidly on the spot, and began a lightning fast sprint to the combat, not noticing as he received a shattering blow to the ear: every pawstep seemed too slow.
The tom let a short, sharp exhale of relief as he saw Wingheart begin to fight back, and flung himself into the fray with an exultant hiss, digging his claws into the bear's pelt and kneading them repeatedly, ready to make fur fly. -
OOC: Recap? Sorry, I'm lazy.

ooc: OMG WHAT IF WINGY WAS PREGNANT LIEK NAO?!
And nothing Skrill, they're still fighting the bears.ic: The femme flashed her beloved a grateful smile, slashing at the bear's throat and eyes as it bucked around, digging her claws in deeper to prevent herself from falling off even though she failed and was flung backwards, luckily landing on her feet with a surprised yowl before scampering back to kick at the beast's legs again. "Nightclaw, are you ok?"
Blackstone was nearly unconscious. But not yet. Reaching out with his two forepaws the handsome but three-limbed male struck at a bear, sending it spinning round to face him with a roar. "Hey bud," he grunted in bear, and the beast reared back.
"You speak Bear?!"
"Of course I do. Some cats can. Listen, hey, you're kinda killing my clan, I'd appreciate it if you left us alone. I'm half dead, as is the rest of us. Just go. Cat doesn't taste nice anyway."
"It doesn't?"
"No, it tastes like rotted crow." at this the bear wrinkled his snout.
"I will go then. CAT TASTES LIKE ROTTEN CROW; IT'S NOT WORTH MY TIME." the bear roared in slight disappointment, stomping away. Blackstone lifted a paw to wipe his head and grinned; one down, only about three thousand to go.Jellyfern wasn't doing so well.
The half-faced femme was flopped out on the floor somewhere, a bear struggling to rip into her stomach as she lay there unable to fight back. She could barely even moan in agony as the bear's fangs tore open her stomach, she just lay there, whimpering, struggling to fend the brute off when she couldn't even open her eye any more.Calicocry let out a long yowl, leaping at a nearby bear and ripping down its flanks. "Filthy scum!" she spat, though she was fairly glad they had attacked; it gave her an opportunity to release the anger she had been bottling up ever since she and Coalspirit had broken up, the heartbreak, the loss, the insanity. The patched femme bit back a sob, instead smirking devilishly and lashing out again. Coal...

OOC: Spanny: OMG YA.
And put the plot we PMed about into action... NOW!
IC: Pebblestar raced towards the pregnant femme, lashing out towards the bear, twisting around in a complex attack towards the bear's eyes...
Before he realised he's fully exposed his belly. Too late to change tack, the tom knew the bear would take the opportunity. Nut to die saving a Clanmate; it was more than he could ask for.OOOC: Sorry for the short post
-
ooc: HELL YEAH
&&imma kill Wingheart when she has her kits for the other dodgy plot xDic: The bear spun around to face Pebblestar now, his black beady eyes narrowed in fury as he launched at the leader, aiming to rip his stomach open and shred him there and then.

As the claws pierced the soft flesh of his stomach, Pebblestar's yowl was unearthly. He knew the bear would have damaged something vital, but the old leader knew something else, too. That he had to save his Clan before he died.
Suddenly, the pain was a little less intense, and the tom forced himself to be oblivious to the torrent gushing from his underside. Bunching his muscles from where he hung beneath the beast's mighty head, he sank his claws deep into the flesh of its neck to haul himself onto its back, tearing free from the bear's jaws with a horrible ripping sound, accompanied by a spurt of hot blood that, he was glad, squirted towards the bear's face. From there, Pebblestar opened his jaws wide and leaned over its shoulder and aimed for its soft throat. -
And that was it. Bested by a feline.
The bear's eyes shrunk then widened rapidly as its throat was torn out by the dying leader, its once strong breaths now gargles that could not be comprehended. It aimed a few slashes but both missed as the also-fading beast staggered, falling onto its side as it desperately tried to suck in the lungfuls of air it needed but couldn't get. This wasn't it. It couldn't be it.
But it was. The massive, shaggy brute's open and snarling but panicked jaws stiffened, as did the rest of its body, its angry eyes dimming and losing their fire as they glazed over and became cloudy. It wasn't long ~ it couldn't survive without oxygen ~ and soon the bear's warm, living body began to grow cold as its life just ended.Calicocry watched the entire scene.
Her wail was agonising when she saw the bear rip open Pebblestar, and found no consolation in it dying. She bounded to the leader's side, staring at the gash in his stomach that she somehow knew would end his life. "This is your last life, isn't it." it wasn't a question. She knew. And the pain in her eyes remained as she stared at the lifeless bear, the scar on her paw once again glowing for the death of a leader, not a new life as it was supposed to. -
No. NO! The bear watched as their best fighter perished in a pool of slick blood. right before his eyes. It was over. No longer would they feast.
The great creature opened his jaws in a mighty bellow, that spoke of fury, revenge -- But also of defeat. The bear back had lost to the mangy Clan. Despairing and hungry, the blood splattering from his muzzle in a steady stream, the bear lumbered into the darkness.Parsleyfrost watched the fight, like Calicocry. She watched Pebblestar fall. She watched the bear's defeat. But somehow, it all seemed hollow now. They would get home, rejoicing, but somewhere in the ranks would be a mateless she-cat, two fatherless apprentices and a brotherless tom, as well as every cat who'd not only lost a leader, but a dear friend.
The she-cat walked over to Blackstone, her eyes clear and yet clouded, revealing nothing.
"Blackstone, darling," The she-cat meowed to her wounded mate, "It's Pebblestar, he's... He's dying."It was true. The tom could feel the numbing sensation tingling in his paws, the dryness at the back of his throat. He looked up as the calico femme spoke to him, and he nodded.
"Yes." He meowed, his eyes bright, "Yes, this is my last." He blinked slowly, "You've always been so brave, Calicocry. So determined to remain one step ahead, not to betray the emotions you feel inside. I've always wanted to be more like that." Pebblestar nodded, "You'll be a great mother one day, Cal. Your heart will tell you what to do." He looked around, "Where's Blackstone? I need to speak to him, before... Before I join Silverpelt." -
Calicocry felt tears well up in her eyes but she nodded nonetheless, bowing her head and stepping back as she curled her tail around her paws. "I'm sorry I couldn't save you," she whispered, closing her violet-tinted eyes and sobbing silently. She had failed her leader ~ and for her, that was the greatest sin of all.
"But I'm not strong... I betrayed my mate for someone I couldn't have, fell prey to the Dark Forest... I'm useless inside, really. And now... The kits I have... Their father will not be the tom I love."Blackstone's closing yellow eyes snapped open at his mate's mew, his pupils shrinking as his jaw hung open in horror. "No," he murmured in shock, refusing to believe it. "He-he can't be. He can't be dying, not now!" his choked cry soon broke off and he dragged himself to his three paws. "Pebblestar-!!" the deputy limped over, his yellow eyes dull as he collapsed beside his leader. "You-you can't die. No. you won't die. You can't. I- no- WHY?!"
-
Pebblestar shook his head, "It wasn't your duty to save me. It was your duty to protect your Clan, and you've done that. And, I believe, that we have to make mistakes to be able to rise above them." The leader's eyes widened, "You have your whole life ahead of you, Calicocry. Don't hold back."
Then he heard the yowl, and saw his black pelt collapse beside his own bloodstained tabby. "Don't be afraid, Blackstone. This is what StarClan has planned for us." Despite the fire raging in his throat, he managed a purr, "RockClan will remain strong, with you as its leader. You will be Blackstar, their... Their... Beacon of... Strength..." The leader's voice began to wheeze and fail as the blood continued to ooze from his wound. -
He held back a wail. "I... Looked up to you, you were my role model... And now... I have no one. What now? Who do I follow? I will be Blackstar, yes -- I won't let this clan fall -- but... Am I ready?" he stared at Pebblestar's wound. "All my life I have been the sacrifice. I had three lives. Three lives to save people... I could've used this one to... Save you and I didn't." he narrowed his eyes. [b]"But these next nine... I will use to save everyone. Everyone."
-
Snowfur struggled to her paws and dragged herself to her mate, "P-P-Pebblestar?! No-no! P-P-Please! D-Don't!"
Spearpelt watched as his fearless leader fall into the pit of death, but he kept his eye on the bears.
