  • Puddle's little line of rocks was upset by his sister's move. He laughed. "You messed up my rocks!" He slapped a rock back towards her with his paw.

"Okay kitties, c'mon, it's getting late and I want us all in by the deep of night for sleepies." Firefly led the little horde of seven kits out a little further into camp. Twilight had set in and it was getting rapidly darker, not that cats had a problem with that. The issue as Firefly saw it was the colder wind kicking up. He wondered whether there would even be a frost tonight...but doubted it.

  • "All done, thank you for letting me suckle mommy." McCmaey purred. She sat up in her family's nursery bed and groomed the some of the dirt out of her pelt, though she was still very messy. Because everytime McCmaey groomed a spot she was still urious with her siblings and stomped on the ground getting more mud adn dirt on her.

  • Kiara darted out of the nursery and sniffed the shiny. "Where'd the shiny come from?" she asked, nudging it over to Joc. It looked, well, shiny, and weird, and Twoleg-ish.

Lapin batted a pebble around, too, particularly aiming for one of her siblings. There were five of them-the sixth was McCamey, back in the nursery-she was bound to hit one of them.

  • "Hey Kiara." Mariposa had also come by, maybe she could help herd these kits in. "Firefly and Dotteddot, if you like I could help with these kits. Do you want any help?"

"Sure, we got it under control but you never know if one will make a run for it," said Firefly. "Thanks."

  • Joc giggled again, swinging her paw to bat the pebble back at her brother. That was when Kiara came out of nowhere and got the shiny that Joc had tried to get before. A sparkle appeared in her eyes and she eagerly pounced on it, sinking her tiny fangs into the twoleg wrapper. ”Shiny!” she giddly squealed.

  • "What shiny? Oh!" Puddle looked at the strange object, which did not match the surroundings. He sniffed at it, then his sister snatched it away. He giggled. "Joc likes the shiny. And I like rocks."

  • "And I like peace where no one kills buggies or annie-muls!" McCmaey squealed racing out of the nursery and over to Puddle, Joc, and Kiara. She sat down and stared at the shiny thing that Joc had wondering what it was.

  • Kiara stared at the shiny thing. She had just heard some kits talking about something shiny and had decided to see what it was. She plopped down and concentrated on balancing a pebble on her paw. It kept rolling off, but she kept trying.

  • "I dun' like peace," Rellia disagreed, shooting a curious glance at McCamey. "The animals are food." Either her sister was looking for attention, or was going to starve herself. Rellia looked to her father and mother, hoping that they would talk some sense in to McCamey.

  • "I like peace wif other cats, but not peace wif freshkill animals," said Puddle. There, he had it sorted out pretty well, he thought.

Firefly sighed. He'd been through this before with Mccamey. And the time of their weaning was fast approaching. In just a pawful of days they'd start eating their first meat. And from then on they would need it in their diet to be healthy. "You're not creating any sort of peace if you hurt yourself by not eating the kind of food your body needs. And as for our prey, a lot of them in fact most of them eat bugs, themselves. Think of all the bugs you'll save the lives of by eating them."

  • Lapin listened, trying to mentally digest what her father and sisters and brother were saying. "Yeah, one mousey might eat ten bugs a day. If you eat it, you'll save tons of buggies!" she said. She was getting a little tired of McCamey's fierce objections to meat, but she knew McCamey would cave in when the time came to start eating it.

  • Kankuro really didn't care about McCamey. "Whatever, not my problem," he said bluntly. Then he trotted off out of the nursery. McCamey was actually getting on his nerves, she was such a buzzkill. No fun. Bleh. He didn't like people he killed the fun mood. Lapin, Joc, Puddle, and Rellia were okay, but McCamey was such a hippie.

  • "So, the more fresh-kill we don't catch the more abundant prey will be for leaf-bare." McCamey objected. "It will also be plump, so I can live with each prey eating ten buggies a day." McCamey couldn't believe how adult-like she sounded in her talking.

  • "Abuh.. Abun.." Rellia tried to copy McCamey's use of such a big word, staring at her sister in awe. "Plum!" She wondered what plump meant and started to become annoyed that she couldn't follow the conversation. So she turned her attention to a nearby leaf, stepping on it and listening to the satisfying crunch beneath her paw.

  • Dotteddot couldn't help but wonder if her daughter was a genius. She was using such big words at such a young age... Well, it was possible, after all; and with this litter especially. She trotted out of the nursery behind Kankuro, keeping a close eye on all of the kits outside.

  • "Mummy! Look!" Rellia yowled out to Spottedspot, still crunching the leaf beneath her paw. "It's really crunchy, yeah?" The young kit pushed the leaf closer to her mother and the rest of the family, thinking the leaf was pretty neat.

  • Joc lowered her head, sniffing the shiny wrapper that was successfully pinned between her forepaws. It didn't smell bad, it smelled a little bit like food actually. Their father had been talking lots about fresh-kill and so she wondered if this counted as it. Leaning forward, she bit off the corner of the wrapper. The tiny, metallic piece slid into her throat, catching slightly. Joc began to cough as it irritated the inside of her throat. She coughed and coughed until finally it came back up and fell soggily to the ground. "Icky!"
