  • Lynxpaw licked a chest fur that had gotten out of place. "I'll get it eventually..." She sighed.
"Can you demonstrate?" She said, hoping she'd learn more that way.

  • Tickpaw nodded and droppedinto his crouch. His belly fur brushing the snow and his tail barely of the snow. Showily her drew himself forward to a leaf that was clear of snow. Once he was a tail length away he pounced on the leaf. "You have to have steady movements."

  • Lynxpaw squinted her eyes, assessing his movements. "Okay. I think I have it."
She swept back into the stalking position, slowly advancing on a pinecone sticking up from the snow. She bunched her muscles, green eyes wide, and sprang, paws landing directly on the pinecone, the winter fluff on her paws buffeting the prickly sensation from the spines.
"Ooh! I think I've got the hang of it!" She meowed, excited.

  • "Where should we look? Anywhere?" She leaped atop the raised tree root, surveying the snowy forest beyond.
It looks as if the world has been frozen in time, She thought, As if the world is perfect, and you'd want to keep it's beauty intact.

  • "How about deeper in the territory." Tickpaw raced deeper into the forest looking back to see if Lynxpaw was still behind him.

  • She pricked her ears in surprise, creeping forward quietly. Her eyes glittered with anticipation as the squirrel came into view. Lynxpaw sprang, claws and teeth bared. The squirrel had just picked up her scent when she landed on top of it, silencing it's attempted shriek with a bite to the neck.

She stood, giving a hop of pure joy. "I did it!" She purred. "Thank StarClan!"

  • "Wow! That was amazing!" Tickpaw ran over to Lynxpaw, tackling the she-cat to the ground, laughing.

  • Lynxpaw purred, giving the tom an affectionate lick on the cheek.
"All thanks to you, O Great Mentor!" She snickered. "I only hope my luck will last!"

  • "I don't think it will if you keep that up,"the cream and white tom smiling as he let the she-cat get up. "I bet you will be the best hunter in the clan."

  • Lynxpaw stood, meowing, "You taught me how, I think you of all cats deserves the title!"
She covered the mouse with snow, making a mental note of where it was. "With any luck, we'll bring back enough to feed the elders!" She mewed, inhaling more prey-scent.

  • Tickpaw crouched and paced himself forward. Testing the air for prey. Sunddenly he saw a mouse and stopped.

  • Tickpaw crept forward, silently and with short movements. His light cream and white fur barely visible against the snow. He stopped behind the mouse and prepare to pounce. Jumping the mouse darted away but Tickpaw jumped further, landing on the tiny prey. Killing kit swiftly with a bite to the neck.

  • Tickpaw smiled,"That's not all we have to learn. We have to learn battle move to fight." Padding over to a tree with his mouse, he cover it in the snow. "No mater how much we don't want to fight."
