  • Mapletounge stared at the darkness below, she took in a deep breath. Her fur blew in the wind as she took a step closed to the gorge, putting a paw over it, ready to hop in and let it take her life from her.

  • "Stop! Mapletongue, don't jump!" a cat's voice rang through the air. Swifttail of WindClan came up behind her, worry and confusion in his eyes.

  • "Well, suicide is definetely not the answer to whatever problem you are facing," Swifttail mewed, sitting next to her.

  • "Plus," Swifttail murmured, his dark brown tabby pelt swaying in the wind. "I've heard some cats go to the Dark Forest by killing themselves, mostly because that is considered murder." he said, looking down into the gorge.

  • Mapletounge backed away from the edge, "I don't want to go to the Dark Forest!" she yelped.

  • Swifttail chuckled, his blue eyes filled with amusement. "Don't worry, just don't kill yourself," he meowed, stepping away from the gorge, then the ground shifted from beneath him! Swifttail felt himself clinging to the edge of the cliff. He tried to pull himself up, "Mapletongue, please help me!"

  • Swifttail's hind paws scrabbled on the rock as he tried to pull himself up. His claws grasped the ground. He felt himself become lighter and he felt ground underneath his belly. "Okay, thanks so much, Mapletongue." he panted.

  • Mapletongue nodded, "You're welcome." she said. "I remember when my mother fell in there.. hearing her screams.." she said with a shudder.

  • "I think we should move away before anything else happens." said Mapletounge, eyeing small cracks in the side of the gorge.

  • Mapletounge was about to pad away aswell but the ground beow her was crumbling. She yelped and ran foward, jumping foward and landing safely away, watching the dirt fall down the gorge. "It's getting slightly bigger.." said Mapletongue.

  • Swifttail was at her side. "Yeah, at this rate, who knows how big it'll get," he meowed, looking over the edge.
